2023.05.29 04:07 FireLizard172 Fire Protection Pre-Career Advice
I'm currently heading into my senior year where I'll start to take graduate level FPE courses. So far I've done two internships within FPE that engage in code consulting and a bit of design. I've read through a history of posts within this forum of how I can better distinguish myself amongst my peers. (Seen a lot of discussion of NICET certification but not sure if I should pursue this as I plan to get my PE in the future)
I'm particularly interested in the design aspect of FP whether it be FA or sprinkler systems. As I mentioned I have some of these courses lined up in the next year or two but am looking to gain a further edge and learn as much as possible.
Is there any advice an experienced professional can give as how I can most efficiently spend my free time outside work in learning these aspects? As someone who doesn't have a solid foundation of FPE should I enroll in the NFPA 13 and 72 Online Series Training? I've also heard that FireTech offers some good courses. (Not exactly sure what's best for my set of circumstances) I plan to take the FE exam next year, but am wondering if there are any initial certifications I should look into to further build my resume before I graduate? I don't mind spending my own money in these courses, but again looking to separate myself amongst my peers, any advice is appreciated for an eager and passionate student.

2023.05.29 04:05 Zen-Paladin How to stop feeling hopeless in life and finally succeed?
22M here, will be 23 in a few weeks. I grew up with autism, recently got an ADHD diagnosis that explains many things looking back. Throughout my formative years I struggled socially/academically and these things persisted into adulthood. I am nearly 23 and starting college over from scratch, and have never had a girlfriend and still am not in a great place financially/mentally for it anyway. Still living with my mom, but want to apply to be a police officer in 1.5-2 years with an associates degree in business (will get a bachelor's in the long run) and some job stability.
I wasn't really bullied, but the constant loneliness and embarassment for my cringiest moments still eats at me and can ruin my mood for the day. Plus the ADHD has made adulting hard: lost a couple jobs, mismanaging money, and I am even years behind on hobbies I genuinely like. With family, my family has always been pretty dysfunctional. Suicidal sister with violent outbursts and has been hospitalized several times. Police were also here various times, once 4 times within 2 months. My dad was abusive at times, loving at others with apologies/love bombing thrown in. He died from COVID 2 years ago, and not being on the best terms at the time it still gets to me, among other family BS. My mom is very stressed/burnout from it all and actually denied getting me ADHD treatment when I was initially diagnosed as a kid and is still against it(she can't do anything of course)
All this sucks. That said I know my only alternative is to improve and try to make the most out of it. I doubt myself at times but know I am not incapable of achieving these things. My autism is mild and doesn't impact me outside of being socially inexperienced(I talk to people ok) and I take meds for my ADHD which is definitely helping. I started therapy recently as well and am starting to go for a full glow up(fitness, grooming, etc). For a GF, I mainly want someone who has a good personality, us at least ok with my nerdy interests and is conventionally attractive(by no means needs to be a supermodel in looks)
I have overcome a lot of the comparison to others/keeping up with Joneses mindset I used to have but still lament being behind on my goals I genuinely want to achieve. I hope that within three years I would have my own place, a girlfriend or at least have started dating, and a bit of a social life(not a partier though). I like martial arts(started Kajukenbo and BJJ again) and might do a few tournaments if I stick with it. I also signed up for some Meetup groups(nerd stuff) and a friend of mine wants to do some hiking. I will be applying for another EMT job(weren't hiring for flexible schedules before) and with my ADHD under control doing better may help my confidence.
All that said I still have intrusive thoughts about my failures and question if things can get better. How can I change that?

2023.05.29 04:04 Mr_Ben8 Book or Anime
I need help deciding something, so I was bored, and I wrote kind of a Director script of an anime I also have an illustrator’s guide and a voice actor script, but the more I read it the more it sounds like a book. I was wondering if anyone could help me decide if I should turn it into a book or see if I should try to make it into a animated series if a Japanese company does not get involved if it is successful. and if anyone would donate to this “Anime” So here is the first episode, and or chapter. You can vote at the bottom.

Characters: - Masaru Hiroshi: A young man in his late teens, radiating a calm and focused aura. He is dressed in casual attire, ready to start his day.

Masaru: (cheerfully) Good morning, Mom. Good morning, Dad.
Mom: (with affection) Ohayou gozaimasu, Masaru. Sit down, breakfast is ready.
Masaru takes a seat on a cushion, appreciating the spread of tamago (Japanese omelette), tsukemono (pickled vegetables), and miso soup on the table.
Mom gracefully gets up and reaches for the teapot, pouring steaming tea into Masaru's cup.
Dad: (casually) Masaru, have you decided what you'll be doing today?
Masaru: (thoughtfully) I'm considering helping Mrs. Tanaka with her garden. She could use an extra pair of hands.
Mom returns to her seat, her eyes filled with pride.
Mom: (supportive) That's wonderful, Masaru. Helping others is a true reflection of your character.
Dad: (nodding) Remember, son, the willingness to lend a hand cultivates empathy and strengthens our bonds with the community.

Masaru: (grateful) Thank you for the delicious meal, Mom. Thank you for your wise words, Dad. I'll see you both later.
End of Scene 1.
Scene two
Scene 2: Masaru's Morning Routine - A Day Begins
Setting: Masaru's bedroom, a reflection of his personality and interests. The room has a blend of traditional and modern elements, with minimalistic decor. The morning sunlight filters through the shoji screens, casting a gentle glow on the room.
Characters: - Masaru Hiroshi: The main character, a young and determined individual. He is dressed in comfortable pajamas, carrying his clothes for the day and wearing a robe. - Inu: Masaru's loyal and playful Shiba Inu dog. Inu looks up at Masaru with adoring eyes.
Scene Description: The scene opens in Masaru's serene bedroom. The room exudes a sense of tranquility, with light wooden flooring and sliding shoji screens allowing soft rays of morning sunlight to illuminate the space.
Masaru stands by his bed, a platform-style bed with a pristine white sheet. He is dressed in comfortable pajamas, the fabric loosely hugging his form. In his hands, he holds his clothes for the day, neatly folded and ready for wear.
With a determined yet calm expression, Masaru carefully selects his outfit, meticulously considering his choice. He slips out of his pajamas, revealing a glimpse of his physique, before smoothly sliding into his daytime attire.
Feeling refreshed from a good night's sleep, Masaru walks towards the en suite bathroom adjoining his room. The bathroom features a modern design, with clean lines and a glass-enclosed shower area.
Inside the shower, the warm water cascades over Masaru's body, rejuvenating him for the day ahead. The sound of water droplets creates a soothing ambiance, as he takes a moment to cleanse both his body and mind.
After his invigorating shower, Masaru steps out of the bathroom, steam lightly clinging to his skin. He reaches for a comfortable robe hanging by the door, slipping it on with a smooth motion. The soft fabric envelopes him, providing a sense of warmth and ease.
Returning to his bedroom, Masaru walks over to a corner of the room where Inu eagerly awaits him. He kneels down, gently petting the Shiba Inu's head, exchanging affectionate glances.
Masaru: (warmly) Take care, Inu. I'll see you later.
Inu barks softly, their bond evident in their connection.
With a sense of readiness, Masaru stands up, his gaze sweeping across the room to ensure he has gathered everything he needs for the day. A desk with a few books and a small shelf housing a collection of samurai figurines catch his eye momentarily.
Satisfied that he has all he requires, Masaru turns his attention towards the door. He takes a step forward, pausing briefly to appreciate the familiarity and comfort of his personal sanctuary.
Masaru walks out of his room and makes his way downstairs, the sound of his footsteps echoing in the hallway. As he descends, he catches glimpses of his parents in the living area, each engrossed in their morning routines.
Masaru: (casual) Mom. Dad.
Mom looks up from her activity, her face lighting up with a warm smile.
Mom: Masaru. Have a great day!
Dad glances up from his newspaper, his expression reflecting a mix of pride and support.
Dad: Take care, son. Make it count!
Masaru nods appreciatively, acknowledging their words of encouragement. He continues his stride towards the front door, a subtle determination in his step.
Closing the front door behind him, Masaru steps out into the world, greeted by the embrace of a new day. The possibilities stretch out before him, and he's ready to seize them with
Scene 3: Masaru's Serendipitous Discovery
[The scene begins with Masaru leaving his house, his destination being Mrs. Tanaka's garden, which lies beyond the city market. He walks along the familiar path, lost in his own thoughts.]
Masaru (muttering to himself): Alright, time to head to Mrs. Tanaka's garden. Gotta take this route through the market. Wonder what kind of chaos awaits me there today.
[As Masaru walks, he notices a side street veering off from the main path. Intrigued by the allure of the unknown, he decides to deviate from his usual route.]
Masaru: Huh, a different path this time. It seems less traveled, yet there's something enchanting about it. Let's see where it leads.
[He ventures down the narrow street, leaving behind the bustling sounds of the city market. The path meanders through a lush landscape, revealing a tranquil pond adorned with cherry blossom trees. A sense of peace envelops Masaru as he gazes in awe at the breathtaking beauty before him.]
Masaru (whispering to himself): A hidden gem amidst the hustle and bustle—a peaceful pond embraced by cherry blossoms. Its serene atmosphere captivates my senses, drawing me further into its charm.
[In the heart of the pond, a small bamboo forest emerges, creating a magical scene that feels like a secret sanctuary. Masaru stands in awe, marveling at the harmony between the delicate cherry blossoms and the sturdy bamboo stalks, as if nature itself has crafted a wondrous masterpiece.]
Masaru (amazed): Such a beautiful combination of grace and strength. How is it that this hidden oasis remains undiscovered by so many? It's like stepping into a realm untouched by the chaos beyond.
[As he walks along the path surrounding the pond, Masaru's sharp instincts guide him towards a rare and elusive creature—a magnificent rabbit with fur as white as freshly fallen snow. With his exceptional stealth and agility, Masaru silently approaches the rabbit, capturing it with impressive dexterity.]
Masaru (whispering to the rabbit): Your elegance matches the serenity of this hidden pond. Allow me to admire your presence for a brief moment.
[Examining the rabbit in his hands, Masaru takes in the intricate patterns of its fur, the gleam in its eyes, and the gentle rise and fall of its breathing. His admiration for the creature grows as he realizes the rarity of such an encounter.]
Masaru (in awe): The world holds its breath when you appear, a living testament to nature's beauty. I am grateful to have crossed paths with you.
[With great care, Masaru releases the rabbit back into the freedom of the surrounding landscape. As it bounds away, disappearing into the lush foliage, Masaru smiles, his heart filled with gratitude for the connection he shared with the creature.]
Masaru (grateful): Farewell, my exquisite friend. May your journey be filled with endless wonder and the allure of unexplored paths.
[Inspired by his encounter with the rabbit and the hidden wonders of the pond, Masaru continues his journey towards the city market, anticipation filling his heart. He moves forward, eager to uncover the stories and encounters that await him in the vibrant marketplace.]
Masaru (determined): The city market beckons, a realm of vibrant energy and untold tales. But the memory of this hidden sanctuary will forever be etched in my mind—a testament to the extraordinary wonders that lie just beyond the beaten path.
Scene 4: The City Market [INT. CITY MARKET - DAY]
Masaru finally arrives at the bustling city market. The atmosphere is lively, filled with colorful stalls, chattering merchants, and the aroma of various foods. He walks through the market, nodding and waving to familiar faces, engaging in small talk with store owners.
MASARU Morning, Mr. Suzuki! How's business today?
MR. SUZUKI Masaru! Good to see you, my boy. Business is steady, thanks for asking. Say, have you seen those new spices I brought in?
MASARU Oh, I haven't checked them out yet, but I'll swing by later. They must be quite something!
Masaru continues his leisurely stroll through the market, enjoying the vibrant sights and sounds. He passes by a fruit stand and strikes up a conversation with the FRUIT MERCHANT.
MASARU Good morning! Those peaches look juicy today. How are they selling?
FRUIT MERCHANT Masaru, my friend! These peaches are flying off the shelves. Can't resist their sweetness. Want to try one?
MASARU Sure, I'll take one.
Takes a bite Mmm, delicious as always.
As he walks further, he spots a SHOE VENDOR arranging a display of colorful shoes.
MASARU Morning! Any new styles in stock?
SHOE VENDOR Masaru, my man! Just got these sleek leather boots. Want to give them a try?
MASARU Maybe next time. They look impressive, though.
Masaru continues his journey through the bustling market, exchanging greetings and engaging in short conversations with various merchants. Their words blend with the lively ambiance, creating a tapestry of voices and activity.
As he walks, Masaru catches sight of a signpost indicating the direction to Mrs. Tanaka's garden. The familiarity of the garden tugs at his heart, reminding him of past visits filled with enchantment and tranquility.
MASARU (to himself) Ah, Mrs. Tanaka's garden... Always a haven of beauty and wonder.
With a renewed sense of excitement, Masaru quickens his pace, eager to reconnect with the serenity that awaits him in the familiar garden.
[END OF SCENE]
Scene 5: The Garden Conversation
[Setting: Mrs. Tanaka's Garden. Masaru enters the garden, greeted by the serene beauty and Mrs. Tanaka's warm presence. They sit down at a small table with cups of tea.]
Mrs. Tanaka: [Smiling warmly] Masaru, my dear, before we start working, let's take a moment to enjoy some tea together. So, have you given any thought to what you want to do for your future career?
Masaru: [Sipping his tea, thoughtful] To be honest, Mrs. Tanaka, I'm still unsure. There are so many possibilities, but none of them feel quite right. I've been volunteering to explore different paths, but I know that volunteering doesn't bring money.
Mrs. Tanaka: [Nodding understandingly] Ah, the practical side of things. It's true that we need to consider financial stability as well. However, let me share a different perspective with you. Money is important, but it should not be the sole measure of our success or fulfillment.
Masaru: [Curious] What do you mean?
Mrs. Tanaka: Volunteering may not bring immediate financial rewards, but it can enrich your life in other ways. It helps you develop skills, gain valuable experiences, and build connections with people who share your passions. Sometimes, the true value of a career lies in the impact we make and the joy it brings to our lives.
Masaru: [Contemplative] I've never thought about it that way. I've always been focused on finding a career that brings financial stability, but maybe there's more to it than just money.
Mrs. Tanaka: [Encouragingly] Indeed, Masaru. Follow your heart, pursue what brings you joy and fulfillment. Remember, a fulfilling career is a combination of your passions, values, and the positive impact you can make in the world.
[They continue their conversation over tea, delving deeper into Masaru's interests, dreams, and aspirations, as the tranquil garden surrounds them with its beauty and wisdom.]
Scene 6: The Garden
[The scene is set in Mrs. Tanaka's garden, where Masaru and Mrs. Tanaka are working together, collecting Kubocha squash. They have a pile of squash beside them. They both pause for a moment, catching their breath.]
Mrs. Tanaka: [Wiping her forehead] Ah, the Kubocha squash harvest is coming along nicely, Masaru. Your help is greatly appreciated.
Masaru: [Smiling] It's my pleasure, Mrs. Tanaka. I'm glad to be of assistance.
[They both resume their work, collecting more squash, their movements synchronized.]
Mrs. Tanaka: [Breaking the silence] Masaru, may I ask you a question?
Masaru: [Curious] Of course, Mrs. Tanaka. What's on your mind?
Mrs. Tanaka: [Thoughtful] Do you know what you want to do for your future career? Have you discovered your true calling yet?
Masaru: [Pausing, contemplating] Honestly, Mrs. Tanaka, I'm still uncertain. I haven't found my path yet.
Mrs. Tanaka: [Nodding] I understand. Sometimes, finding one's purpose can be a challenging journey. But let me tell you about one of my grandchildren. He's grown up to become one of the world's greatest swordsman.
Masaru: [Surprised] A swordsman? That sounds incredible. But how does one become a swordsman?
Mrs. Tanaka: [Smiling warmly] It's not just about swinging a blade, Masaru. It's a path of discipline, dedication, and protection. As a swordsman, you learn to wield a blade with precision and skill, defending what you hold dear.
Masaru: [Intrigued] I never thought of it that way. Tell me more.
Mrs. Tanaka: [Eagerly] Being a swordsman means more than just fighting. It's about protecting your beliefs, your village, and the people you care about. It requires physical strength, mental fortitude, and a strong sense of justice.
Masaru: [Absorbing the information] That's fascinating. But where would I even start?
Mrs. Tanaka: [Encouraging] I'm glad you're interested, Masaru. I happen to know the best swordsman master in history, renowned for his wisdom and skill. If you're willing, I can arrange a meeting for you. He can guide you on this incredible journey and teach you the ways of the sword.
[They continue working, picking up more squash, but now there's a sense of anticipation and excitement in the air.]

2023.05.29 04:03 NightCities13 188 Years Later-Game 2-Rest of PreGames
Parade
Steward and Oceanette lightly chatted to one another about which beach they liked the best, while Zara and Avon talked about the latest Capitol fashions that they liked. They all got into their chariots when it was time.
Steward and Oceanette moved down the Avenue of Tributes, and halfway down, the bubbles on their outfits popped, causing loud cheers from the Capitol crowd.
Zara and Avon earned a high mention in Anderson Fashion, while Steward and Oceanette were called as the Best Dressed, and money was sent home to their families.
Training
Steward and Oceanette arrived at the training center, and saw Lucille and Glam (both 1) and Lara and Viktor (both 2) training separately. This saw the career pack dwindling down to two, sometimes three pairs from this Games forward, with District 1 not volunteering every Games. The two 4s got into the pool and swam, and also used tridents.
Zara was throwing knives when she saw Paulette (3) trip and injure her knee. Perry (5) walked up to her and helped her bandage the knee, which saw an alliance start between the two. From now on, an alliance between 3 and 5 was quite frequent, sometimes also including District 6.
Meanwhile Lorraine and Harvard (both 6) camouflaged themselves into a variety of backgrounds, and Veronique (7) threw axes at targets. Avon focused on sewing rather than weaponry, and Rylo (9) used a scythe. Romeo (10) trained with a machete, while Dalia (11) worked with plants. Sarah and Vernon (both 12) worked in the medical station.
Assessments
Oceanette and Steward scored equal 7s for usage of tridents. Meanwhile Zara scored a 6 for throwing knives, and Avon scored a weak 4 for sewing armor.
At the top of the pack were Lara and Viktor, who both scored 10s, while Lucille and Glam scored 9s. Also near the top, Rylo and Romeo scored 8s.
At the bottom of the pack was Paulette and Dalia, a twelve and thirteen year old who both scored 3s.
Odds
Panem Today revealed the odds on television that night, with Steward earning odds of 7 to 1, while Oceanette had odds of 8 to 1. Zara had odds of 12 to 1, while Avon had odds of 19 to 1.
Interviewer and commentator Plutaria Snow seemed excited for these Games, and said that any tribute could win the Games.
Interview
Plutaria had her long blonde hair in a beautiful braided style, while her blue eyes shone with excitement.
Oceanette wore a aqua dress, and had her ginger hair down in curls. She spoke about wanting to win for her family, and how she was nervous but excited to fight in the Games.
Steward wore a blue suit, and had his brown hair carefully combed back. He talked about wanting to prove that District 4 was strong, and how they produced the third most amount of victors thus far, and he wanted to be another one.
Zara had her blonde hair down in ringlets, and she wore a purple dress. Zara talked about being raised by her brother, and how she couldn’t wait to return home to him and his family.
Avon was next, and he spoke about his sister and her children, and how he wanted to win in order to support them.
Game Maker Juliana Ricci was the last to be interviewed. She pushed her dark curls from her face, and said her hint word, which was “pine”.
Hovercraft
The next day the tributes were awoken, fed, and taken directly to the hovercraft. Halfway through the ride, they had their trackers implanted into their arms.
Tube Room
When the tributes arrived beneath the arena, they were taken to their tube rooms.
Octopius visited Oceanette first, and hugged her, wishing her luck. He advised her to ally with Steward, and stick with him.
Octopius then visited Steward, and hugged the boy close, reminding him that his calm attitude could take him far.
Coutura visited Avon first, and advised him to run away from the bloodbath.
Meanwhile she gave Zara more advice, hugging the girl close and telling her to find a weapon and food, and steer clear of other tributes.
Once all 24 tributes were in their tubes, they rose up into the arena.

2023.05.29 04:02 jazzeriah Sometimes I Just Hate People
We went to a fast casual chain and got churros and they were covered with cinnamon and sugar. They were delicious. My kids had some too. This chain doesn’t even serve with plates, just the main bowl the bunch of churros comes in. So inevitably there was a bunch of loose cinnamon and sugar on the table by the time we left; nothing else, just that. My kids are small and it was even tricky for me to eat the churros without making a mess.
I wiped down the table as best I could but didn’t super clean the whole thing because my 2 y/o was tripping and falling as she was heading to the door of the restaurant with my wife and two other kids and I apologized to a worker there and said it was my kids and I was sorry about the table (even though this place doesn’t even have you bus/clear your own tables, it wasn’t my job but I was trying to be conscientious and respectful) and the guy just looks at me and says: “From one parent to another, do better.”
Thanks a lot. Like I wasn’t already stressed out enough.

2023.05.29 04:01 irjdkanymore Strategies to Work on Relationship Issues w/o giving up the things I want?
I'm not really sure if this is the correct subreddit to post this in but here it goes...
I often struggle with setting my boundaries. I try to and then I feel guilty because it makes my partner feel bad. It really conflicts with how I feel and what I want/need.
I've been in a long distance relationship with my partner for 2.5 years. We're in our late 20s/early 30s. They're in a program to get their doctorate. I work full-time. We live about 1-2 hours depending on traffic. The beginning of our relationship was fun, exciting, all about them. I know I have the habit of making a relationship all about my partner and neglecting my own needs for others. I didn't realize I was a people pleaser until therapy. I would wait around to see when they're available (at this time they were working full-time and part-time). I would make my weekends available so I could see/talk to them when they had time and usually wait day of so they could tell me last minute when they had time so I could be ready at their beck and call. I would stay up late a night even though I was insanely tired to talk to them on the phone for hours. Pay for things or gift them with things b/c I knew I had a higher income (but still struggling financially). We were incredibly compatible, I have nothing but love for them and consider them my best friend. Yet, my world revolved around them. I spent time with their friends and their family. I didn't really have any of my own. I don't/didn't have a healthy relationship w/ my family b/c they're toxic. I didn't have any hobbies at the time. My world was work and my relationship. At this time I would drive 1-2 hours every weekend to spend time w/ them b/c my living situation is renting a room and they live with their mom rent free.
Later, they began their doctorate program. So we had/have a lot less time together. We went through a lot of ups and downs. I spent a lot of time waiting for them to be available and when they were I would sacrifice sleep, money, whatever so I could spend time with them. They did not ask me to nor pressure me too, it's the just the way I am. Collectively, I've spent way too much on my partners to get little to nothing in return. If I knew how to manage my emotions my finances would be in a better predicament. That's another issue I need help with and I'm embarrassed to bring it up to my therapist. Like I've spent money on airline tickets to visit their family and their ticket when I really couldn't afford it and harbored lots of resentment from it b/c I felt guilt-tripped into going.
Anyhow, during the time they became super busy and would spend time in school, working here and there, socializing with their peers (at the time they prioritize spending time w/ their peers before me) and the little time they had for me. I started new hobbies. I really felt uncomfortable doing things alone but they were unable to make it so I went outside my comfort zone. So I learned to do things for myself outside of them. I struggle socially and have such a huge fear of rejection and humiliation. My self-esteem is pretty low especially after multiple abusive relationships.
Now, reflecting after several months of therapy, putting myself out there socially, and trying to do things for me. I'm noticing it's causing conflict in our relationship. Lately, their friendships have fizzled and they do not feel like they have friends and they also have very little time to socialize b/c of school. So they're feeling really insecure about their social life (when I first met them they did not feel this way). They were always socializing, hanging out w/ people, and definitely felt prioritizing their friends over me.
Anyway, I am so unhappy in this relationship and have a hard time saying that to my partner. I love them whole-heartedly. I respect them and want what's best for them but I feel like ever since I've been trying to live my own life, pursuing my passions, making time for the things I enjoy, it has created tension between us. Whenever I'm around them, they're upset/frustrated w/ something I've done. They tell me they feel like an afterthought, that I have all these plans without them when the past year or so they've been incredibly busy and haven't been able to make most things. It feels like our relationship is part time to be honest. Like I have to turn my brain/heart off and on again b/c I have readapt to me not being around them. They're still in their doctorate program. A huge part of me is frustrated b/c in the past I've paid for events, paid for costumes, organized what our activities were, and etc... and when time comes to the event they're upset with me. & it felt like it was all for not. I didn't expect anything in return other than enjoying the time we were spending together and they were mad/upset with me b/c they felt insecure. Recently, I stopped finding events, organizing them, etc... b/c I grew tired of being that person. whenever we do something I enjoy together there is always a fucking issue and vice versa. When we spend time together, just us, there's less likelihood that one of us will be in a mood but add friends/acquaintances to the mix then there's a huge chance that there will be an issue. When we are separate from each other w/ friends/acquaintances there is no issue, just a fun time.
& I'm so tired and exhausted of this. I just can't. I've spent my entire life trying to please other people, doing what they wanted me to do in order to receive nothing in return. It's not even like we can live together, get pets together, or even consider any aspects of settling down. I want to settle down but I have to wait until they graduate and get hired which would be another year and a half minimum. I am so tired of driving back and forth seeing them. I am tired of all the money I've spent on gas and tolls to see them. I'm so tired of cancelling my plans so they're not sad. I'm tired of missing out on things. I'm so tired of my mood being ruined for days b/c they're upset w/ something I've done. It's like no matter what there is always an issue and my partner has noticed it too. It's like we come across an issue, there are moments/hours of tension, talk it out, things are better and the cycle happens all over again. In the past, I was in toxic relationships so it wasn't hard to cut them out my life b/c they were terrible people and leave the ties behind but my current partner I love them so much. But it just seems like our wants/needs are aligning less and less. I know they want to move to the other side of the country in a few years time and I do not and when I tried to express that I ended up feeling bad b/c they were upset so I verbally agreed to it at the end of the conversation. I feel like I can't even commit to my own decisions/boundaries b/c I feel bad when my partner gets upset and it's eating me up inside. I'm having a hard time unblurring the lines between what I want/need and trying to please my partner. They're super sweet, genuine, direct, honest, loving, compassionate but also there is something I can't quite pinpoint that is bothering me a whole lot. Whenever I try to set a boundary or do something I want to do, waterworks cue and I feel terrible. I feel like I have to keep giving up things for them.
I really don't know how to approach this b/c we talk about things but more and more issues come up and it's exhausting. I think it's hard b/c we love each other and don't want to hurt each other but the tension keeps building. I don't know what we should do.

2023.05.29 04:00 its_vf Peter Sumich rates every West Coast Eagles and Walyalup (Fremantle) Dockers player for round 11
https://thewest.com.au/sport/west-coast-eagles/peter-sumich-rates-every-west-coast-eagles-and-walyalup-fremantle-dockers-player-for-round-11-c-10794693 WALYALUP (FREMANTLE)
- Luke Jackson 9: Outstanding effort after Sean Darcy went off injured. Rucked for most of the game. Ground-level play and speed around the contest was elite for a big man. Finished with 19 disposals, six tackles, 23 pressure acts and a massive eight clearances.
- Hayden Young 9: One of the best half-backs in the league. Uses the ball well and defends without it. Had 27 disposals, nine intercept possessions, 10 rebound 50s and 644 metres gained.
- Brennan Cox 9: Such an important player in the air. His spoiling, marking and coming across as third up was a feature. Amassed 20 disposals, six intercepts and 12 marks.
- Andrew Brayshaw 8: In red-hot form and alongside Serong and is part of one of the best midfield combinations in the league. Work rate is second to none and leadership continues to grow. Had 29 disposals, seven tackles, 20 pressure acts and seven clearances.
- Jaeger O’Meara 8: Played in the midfield and again his use was elite. Breaks away from the contest to give himself time and space. His rotation with Fyfe will be important as the year goes on. Had 24 disposals, seven tackles, 400 metres gained and six clearances.
- Caleb Serong 8: Just keeps producing at the right time during games and is starting to finish his work on the scoreboard. Clean hands in tight. Finished with 26 disposals, five tackles, 17 pressure acts and 332 metres gained.
- Luke Ryan 8: Another solid game controlling the defence and setting up the play. Slowed the game down when needed. Had 22 disposals, 11 marks and 633 metres gained.
- Jye Amiss 8: Becoming a consistent multiple goal-kicker. Has improved his pressure game with 14 disposals, six score involvements and most importantly, three goals.
- Alex Pearce 8: A great captain’s game. Smothered Melbourne’s tall forwards and won the ball himself for 11 disposals and eight intercept possessions. Becoming very hard to pass.
- Bailey Banfield 7: Just seems to do the right thing at important stages of the game. Finished with 14 disposals, two marks inside 50 and kicked two goals – outstanding. His spot in the 22 is safe.
- Matthew Johnson 7: Showed some great composure in tight contests and used the ball well. Had 20 disposals, 20 pressure acts and 360 metres gained. A 193cm midfielder at 20 years of age and building nicely into a very good player.
- Josh Treacy 7: Solid game. In and out of the contest but took a great mark in the third term and converted. Finished with two important goals and two inside 50 tackles. Will only get better as he plays more and understands the role.
- Jordan Clark 7: Shut down Melbourne’s attack on many occasions. Finding some terrific form leading into the bye and should take this into the second half of the season. Had 14 disposals, five tackles and 20 pressure acts.
- James Aish 7: Owning the wing role. Another 24 disposals at 92 per cent efficiency, 20 pressure acts and 314 metres gained. Has got form back after a slow start.
- Nathan O’Driscoll 7: Didn’t get big numbers but played the wing role well and always puts pressure on his opponent. Had 15 disposals at 80 per cent efficiency, with 57 per cent of his disposals from the defensive half.
- Sam Switkowski 6: Looked lively for the whole game with 18 touches. Threatened to break it open with speed but only managed three behinds. Played his role and was important in the midfield at times.
- Brandon Walker 6: Another tough role playing on the dangerous Kysaiah Pickett and kept him to two goals. Nothing to get excited about with his stats but very conscious of his opponent.
- Nat Fyfe 6: Racked up 20 disposals in 98 minutes of game time. His 16 handballs is fine as he brought teammates into the game. Once he gets his marking up and going he will be a real asset.
- Lachie Schultz 6: Quiet day for him with 10 disposals, seven tackles, 25 pressures acts and a goal but still got involved at the right times and created chances for teammates. A good sign when you’re not having a great game but still get involved somehow.
- Ethan Hughes 6: Played down back again and seems to have found his spot for now. Has more composure and is using the ball better. Finished with 17 disposals at 88 per cent efficiency.
- Michael Frederick 4: Quiet game but still had important moments, kicking a nice long-range goal. Had 13 disposals, five marks and three score involvements. Biggest concern is that he didn’t lay a tackle on a day that his teammates had 73.
- Sean Darcy 3: Started well in the ruck but hurt his hamstring in the second quarter and was subbed out. Hopefully not a bad one and can return after the bye.
- Sam Sturt 3: Came on as sub and was solid. Must be more consistent and keep working on his defence but hits targets will ball in hand. Five disposals and five pressure acts.

2023.05.29 04:00 TheChickenIsFkinRaw [FH2TERMINA] I try to explain some Moonscorched character transformations (part 1):
Preface
In FH2, due to the effects of the Termina festival, people undergo a slow process of losing their sanity, slowly turning into monsters that represent their worst aspects - self doubt, self loathing, and regrets - this includes monsters like Bobby, and even the 14 participants who have unique forms based on their own pasts, which I'll try to further explore below
By going near the The Hollow Tower and touching the doors, you can also forcibly moonscorch fellow participants through Rher's divine power. Staying outside too long will also catch Rher's attention and his divine influence forcibly transforms you, resulting in a game over
1 Karin (Valkyrie):
As a journalist, she feels deep guilt and tries to rationalize it. Her profession profits from wartime, which could make her feel like a vulture preying on the corpses of fallen soldiers. However, she also tries to look at her work as a way of honoring the fallen, similar to the role of a valkyrie.
As a result, her Moonscorched form is a fusion of both the vulture and the valkyrie, reflecting her conflicting feelings about her career and the fallen soldiers that she's immortalizing
2 Levi (Weeping Scope):
Levi had a sad abusive childhood. Right from the start, he had a violent drunken father who murdered his mother in a drunken stupor. Afterwards, he was sent to St. Domek's Orphanage. Needless to say, the corpses you find in the orphanage basement, torture chains and ritualistic blood circles kinda summarize what happened next. At the age of 13, he was conscripted and became a child soldier. He was talented to the point of having his own squadron of child soldiers, having been sent in a suicide mission. This resulted in bitterness, pain, a severe decline of his mental health, which ended with taking comfort in drugs (heroin).
The form of the Weeping Scope represents this traumatic past - the gun fused with his head embodies his child soldier past as an expendable faceless weapon of war; the constant cries are due to his crumbling sanity; and he's completely naked in a fetal position because at heart, the dude's just a very sad child who never had the chance to grow up
3 O'saa (Mastermind)
O'saa grew up in Abyssonia, having experienced chaos and bloodshed due to different beliefs. He pursued an education in the temple to escape his fate as a pawn in the war, but soon realized that religion was being used as a means to control the masses by the ones above, and that he was once again fated to act on someone else's whims. He found an ancient scroll and ended up learning about yellow mages - mages who harnessed the power of gods for their own gain, so he left to join them. During his time at the Yellow Mages, he went on an expedition to the Dungeons of Fear and Hunger, where he got to experience some of the paranormal dread that fills those cursed halls.
O'saa is at his core a greedy and ambitious person who wants to be in control, and due that very reason, has a great aversion to being a another person's plaything; this is a belief that influenced the course of his life several times. As a mage, he ironically has rhabdophobia (fear of magic), because he's afraid of being a mere puppet to some higher mystical being's power, hence his obsession over harnessing the gods' powers for himself. His monstrous form has his head covered by some kind of fungus and a floating eye - these represent both his great fear of being constantly watched and controlled by some higher being, just like cordyceps control ants to do their bidding
4 Abella (Chaugnar):
This one's a bit of a stretch. As a young woman going through war, she had to watch many of her close relatives and friends being shipped to their deaths on the battlefield. Feeling helpless is what drove her into electro-mechanics - it was the best way to help those around her. With the rising death numbers of close friends/family, she started increasing her workload and further overburdening herself, since it was the only way to contribute to her Homefront. Slowly she became a very hardened person - almost like a man of the house. On the other hand, she appears to be somewhat attractive as a woman, being quite sexualized throughout the game (e.g. remarks by Henryek) and Caligula even attempts to rape her.
Her form of an elephant (almost penis faced) hulking man-like thing embodies those oxymorons of her life - she's an attractive woman who must've faced quite a lot of harassment, but she also had a very troubling life, having become a true hardened man of the house for the sake of her closed ones and homefront
Closing thoughts for part 1
I really enjoyed trying to analyze some of these character's backgrounds and correlate them with their moonscorched transformations - at the end of the day though, a lot of it is subjective and I might be missing information. I would really like to hear your own thoughts and opinions on them, whether you agree/disagree and any possible corrections on my theories

2023.05.29 03:59 27Ari27 My CR is at 93% and I’m worried about being kicked out of the LOP
I always keep my completion rate at or above 95%. Because that’s the requirement for the Large Order Program, which is a HUGE source of my income.
Yesterday it was at 95% when I pulled into a pizza place at 1:45am to pick up two orders. They are in a populated area near the bars and it was Saturday night. They were so unbelievably busy that people were spilling out into the sidewalk, and the inside was wall to wall. The restaurant had recently marked themselves as closed on the customer app even though they were still supposed to be open for a little while, presumably due to how busy they were inside, but these two orders must’ve trickled in before they did that. I called from my car to see if they were even going to make the orders or if I should have them cancelled. They didn’t answer. I could not bring myself to try and push through the sea of drunk people and then fight for the workers’ attention, so I dropped both orders.
My CR is now at 93%. The last day of the month is Wednesday, and I’m panicking. I don’t even care about top dasher, I just don’t want to lose the LOP. So I’ve been taking as many deliveries as possible to get it up the two points but it won’t budge.
Am I panicking over nothing? Has anyone actually been kicked out of the LOP for not meeting criteria?
