2023.04.01 14:07 silentstealth1 Is it normal to feel emotionally exhausted by The Sopranos?

Please don’t spoil anything after Season 5
Recently just finished season 5 and while I obviously enjoyed it quite a bit, but man do I feel like I just finished a 12 round boxing match against a heavyweight.
The show constantly makes you transition from a state of loving these characters and hating them. The show is unbelievably well written and every episode you get a few lines seemingly filled with enough sub text that you could dedicate an essay too.
My only issue is I’m actually tired lol. I don’t know if I can root for these characters anymore, I both want to see their downfall due to episode S5 E12 in which a hopelessly naive yet innocent character succumbs to a tragic fate, but some part of me still wishes them the best. It’s such an emotionally taxing show.
I’m traumatized, battered, and broken. 10/10 would recommend.

2023.04.01 14:06 Cry0nicS Help KEF Q build

Help KEF Q build
I was looking for a soundbar for my new LG TV for the living room. However, after reading this post, I decided to go for a 2.0 or 2.1 setup. Browsing the buying guides here, I have decided on the KEF Q speakers.
Option 1: KEF Q150 (350 EUR / pair) Option 2: KEF Q350 (400 EUR / pair)
I'm inclined to go for the Q350 for 400 EUR via Amazon. However, I need some help with an amplifier. Based on my research, I have set my eyes on 3 options that I could order via Amazon
  1. Sony STR-DH190 - 220 EUR
  2. LOXJIE A30 - 190 EUR
  3. Yamaha A-S301 - 370 EUR
A couple of things to mention: * I only use my TV via Google Chromecast (not sure if this is relevant in any way). I tend to control the volume by voice. * ideally I would like to be able to also play music on the speakers via Google Home speaker (route is via Bluetooth to the amp?)
This is a quick schema of how my room looks like. I'm planning to put the speakers left/right of the TV (not sure yet about wall mounted vs on the floor vs on some stand, given that I have 2 cats)

What amplifier would you guys recommend me?

2023.04.01 14:05 athenaowl19 I lost my books and notes while shifting from hostel.

I(21F), completed mybachelors's degree from a reputed college in 2021. I lived in uni's hostel but because of some personal and health issues I couldn't take all of my belongings back to my house(in a different state) while I was vacating my hostel in the second half of 2021.
I packed everything and took what I could take with me at that point of time. The rest of my books and notes of my bachelors were heavy and hence couldn't be taken back on my own. So, I informed one of my friends (also my classmate) who hadn't shifted from the hostel back then about keeping my luggage in her room. Now I came back to the same college and hostel for the master course and asked my friend about my books(all the course books and NCERTS) and other belongings. Her reply and expressions shocked me, she said she couldn't take my 2 cartons from HER room because she forgot. SHE FORGOT TO TAKE MY BELONGINGS BUT TOOK HERS WITH CARE. I went to the caretaker and helpers and asked about the books but they just said they might have sold it to the kabadiwalas and it breaks my heart to ever hear these words. They ofc didnt care and tho I completely understand that I should have taken my belongings back, I was too unwell to come back but I kept reminding her about the same through text messages multiple times.
I feel extremely raged and sad at the same time. This might seem "pity" or as she termed "childish behaviour" to cry over notes and books. But I cry everytime I think about my books and notes. I feel like I lost an important part of my life. And also I have started being indifferent to that friend. :'(
I tried everything to make me happy but I still get back to the thought of loosing my books and I become sad once again. . :((

2023.04.01 14:05 tnahrp ADHD in the workforce is... miserable.

Warning: this post isn't joyful
My struggle (mostly with emotional regulation) has tanked my relationship with my manager which was previously very good. She knows I have ADHD (I know I know). I'm no longer seen as a good/reliable employee and I'm pretty frustrated and sad about it.
I've tried my best to make everything easier for everyone else -> I take medication and spend most of my money on CBT therapy.
I've learnt: - People without ADHD will truly never understand. And they really don't want to accommodate for you. They'd rather hire someone without ADHD. - I will struggle in the workforce! - I don't think there's any patience for people with ADHD in the workforce (or in general!)
But I want to thank this subreddit. It has helped me a lot. I hope you're all having a good day today.

2023.04.01 14:05 n1ghsthade As it isn't really hard to lose money investing, it must be hard to earn money investing - or maybe not?

Normally, investing can have a lot of different strategies. You can actively (day) trade, which is a very active form of investment. You can also invest and let time pass.
If you look at crypto, and especially when you are new, you might step in hoping for a quick 2-10x of you're money. Usually this idea makes you an emotionally based investor thatyis very likely to make incorrect, or adverse, decisions.
It is very easy to lose money in cryoto, as with any investment by actively trying to "beat the market". Even in the "traditional" investments such as stocks, bonds, ETFs, real estate, gold, whiskey, or whatever, this short-term quick money mindset usually doesn't work.
When we know that even stock movements are hard to predict on a short-term, we for sure can expect this in the way more volatile world of crypto.
So, is it hard to make money? Yes and no. It is hard to make a lot of money. It is hard to make large amounts of money fast. It is relatively easy to make money in the long run.
To sum it up, typically you are best of buying, holding, maybr staking, and most importantly waiting.
Buying in today's market normally should yield gains in a larger time frame such as 1-5 years from now. The decision really is, will you try to make a lot of money quick? Or willing to take more time consistently making (maybe less) money in the long run?

2023.04.01 14:05 No_Count_5425 Travel tech questions

I graduated in 2022 with my MLS degree and have been working in chemistry/hematology/urinalysis and a little bit of micro since. I’m currently a charge tech of 3rd shift and have been working at my lab for 9 months. I want to start traveling for work but I’m not sure how to plan it out. Can I get a travel job with a little under 1 year experience (I’m pretty desperate to leave my current job ASAP). What are the best companies to sign with? I heard some recommendations for fusion and Jackson therapy. How do people look for short term housing and how is it financed? This was my biggest concern. I checked some airbnbs in the areas I was interested in but couldn’t find anything under ~1.6k a month. Any other websites or platform that I could use? Any tips and tricks or feedback very appreciated 🙏

2023.04.01 14:04 Neputunyan Suspect a cavity was missed after getting my cavities filled. What should I do and could this have developed anytime after the operation? Also, I'm getting my wisdom teeth out, could my cavity be removed alongside my wisdom teeth? Do my wisdom teeth even have to be removed?

https://imgur.com/Sz18bRj (This is the best photo I could take with my phone on the part I think is a cavity)
So, as the title said, I had some cavities filled on March 13th. I've had this hole in the far back of my tooth I'd been picking at for a while, as food would get stuck in it. It wasn't noticed or removed at the time of getting my cavities removed, so I thought nothing of it. I didn't feel much different either and I had it for a while. It's begun to feel sore now and I'm wondering if it's possible that this cavity existed before the operation and developed during the 1 month since then.
Would it do any good to bring this up to my dentist who got the cavities removed and will the costs be any different judging by where it is? (Above near the gum, not the bottom surface of the tooth)
Also as said in the title, I was warned by my orthodentist to get my wisdom teeth (4 total, 1 on each farthest backside of my mouth) out immediately as I was apparently supposed to do so last year. He said that there's some nerves that could be wrapped/wrapping around my wisdom teeth and they're pushing on some other teeth, which could cause them to crack or damage, leading to removal. This is according to the panoramic x-ray that was taken last year. Apparently he had 2 other patients who did the same thing I did this year, and had to get a lot more teeth removed than necessary. He's hoping I'm lucky and I won't be the same. However, I've been told frequently among peers to be suspicious of wisdom teeth removals because they're not actually necessary. Lots of mixed signals on articles as well on the topic.
Is there any way to really know if it's necessary? If it is, can the specialist who'd be removing my wisdom teeth also get rid of the cavity, or would I need to get that removed before the wisdom teeth removal?
Sorry for the bundle of questions. I'm mostly asking to be sure if I need to shell out the cash, but I know it'll only get more expensive the more I wait if it's an issue. :(

My favourite sport is football. I used to play it every day when I was younger. Now though, I don’t have any friends to play it with. I don’t enjoy watching football, as much as I do playing it. But I enjoy watching it if I’m with friends. There are many things I love about football. First of all, the pitch you play it on is huge, which means, you get to run around a lot. I love running. Not only do you get to run and race others all the time, but you have to be physically strong too. It’s important to have a low center of balance and strong legs. On top of that, you have to know how to control a ball with your feet, be good at shooting, positioning and many other things. It’s such a complete sport, it’s no surprise it’s by far the most famous sport in the world.
The last time I watched a football match was about one week ago. Italy played England. Sadly, we lost 2-1 but it was nice to see my national side back on the pitch again.
The last time I played a real football match was a few months ago. It was so fun, I outplayed everyone and scored 4 goals. I’m not good at shooting, but my speed and strength, paired with my reflexes, make me a good player. I miss playing football so much.

· Do you like to read? How often do you read?
· What do you like to read and why?
· Tell us about something you read recently.

I think I like to read. To be honest, before 2 years ago, I think I had never read a book before. I started reading daily, because I wanted to improve my English. So, I have never read a book in my native language.
I might have read a couple of them as a child, but after that, gaming got the best of me.
Now it has changed though. I have read about 30 books in English. Not only books, I read many articles too in the past two years. I read everyday now.
As regards books, I love fiction books. Fiction books are definitely my favourite, and I find them the most useful to learn English too. Other than that, I like scientific books, books that can actually teach you something. As a matter of fact, at the moment I’m reading Harry Potter and String Theory for Dummies.
I find it both relaxing and useful. I’m enjoying it, I’m learning new words and I’m improving my pronunciation. I read everything out loud.
A book I read recently is Slow Thinking, Fast Thinking. It was an amazing book. If I were to describe it with a word, I’d say it was an eye-opener. It got a bit repetitive and boring towards the end, but all in all it was so interesting and informative.
I hope I’m able to continue reading everyday like I’ve been doing for a while.

Hi there,
It is the end of the holidays and we will start school again on Monday. In this new school year, I need to work very hard because I will have exams. I must improve in maths and history. And you? You said you want to improve your English. What will you do to improve it? Good luck! Matt
Write to Matt and tell him what you will do to improve your English in this new school year.

Hi Matt,
Yes I’m very determined to improve my English in this school year. I want to get a C2 certificate and I’m going to work as hard as I can to get it.
I have devised a study plan for myself. I’m going to study English for five hours ever yday, except Sunday. I want to do 2 hours of listening, 1 hour of reading, 1 hour and a half of speaking and 30 minutes of writing. I think it’s a pretty substantial plan. What do you think?
I want to be the best English-speaking student in the school. My parents are going to be proud of me.
Last year all I did was listening and reading. In addition to that, I wasn’t putting enough effort into it. This year is going to be different. I will address my weaknesses and work on them. That’s why I decided to dedicate 1 hour and a half to speaking.
I’ll get there, whatever it takes.

Write an email to your English friend. In your email, tell your friend about your favourite film. What kind of film is it? What is it about? Do you think your friend would like the film?

Hi Jon, it’s been a while since I sent you my last e-mail. I know you are a film aficionado, so I wanted to tell you about this film you must watch. Do you remember when you told me your favourite film genre is Horror? I watched an amazing horror movie yesterday. It’s called: “ The Human Centipede”. The movie is about this crazy ex-scientist, who decides he wants to try a horrendous experiment: he wants to create a human centipede. You might be wondering, what’s a human centipede exactly? Good question. A human centipede is made up of two or more humans, attached to each other. You combine them by sort of fusing one’s head to another’s butt. Wickedly sick right?
You must watch it. You’re going to like it. I don’t want to spoil it for you, but I’m just going to tell you that, He succeeds in that.
Tell me what you think about it after you’ve watched it.

Hi everyone, I have a question about the mechanics of scouting chance in Darkest Dungeon. Specifically, if I enter a room with 100 light and then engage in a battle that reduces the light to 0, when the battle ends, will the scouting chance be based on the original 100 light or the reduced 0 light?

Maybe because im the first one in my school to apply to the US, or that my school isnt registered on the Common App, or maybe our national curriculum wasnt recognized, or that the LoRs that I wrote myself (because teachers never wrote LoRs in English before) would be too suspicious, or that the transcripts that I translated myself would seem fake, or the fact that I created and managed my counselor’s account because we dont even have a counselor. All of my friends noticed how much effort i was putting into applying to the US. “Are you crazy? Why wouldnt they accept you?” they would say when I told them that studying in the US wasnt guaranteed for me. After being rejected from Cornell ED, I felt defeated. I had a 1520 sat, ranked 1st in our graduating class, and made the most of the very limited opportunities offered in a rural area of a collapsing country. But i didnt give up. I applied to 18 other universities in RD (including 12 T20s and 4 small LACs). Im aware that it’s extremely difficult to get into those universities, but I had no choice. My family can only afford to pay 5k a year so I needed a full ride. Winter break was hell. My grades dropped considerably because of all the workload, but I thought it would be worth it. I tried to lower the financial burden of applying for my parents. I filled every alternative free financial aid form, requested fee waivers from every university, and asked if i could self report my toefl score instead of paying to report them. So the application process really ended in end of February for me. I also had 6 interviews which were all amazing (2 of which were with T20 schools). There was nothing more i couldve done.
And the results? Rejected from 15 schools, waitlisted at CWRU and Dartmouth, and accepted to 2 LACs with far from enough aid. Today marks the end of my decisions, so I guess i wont be studying in the US for now. One of the main reasons i applied there was because my desired major (bme) isnt even available in my country, but i’ll have to settle for something else. Im not feeling too sad about this outcome, especially since I know now that my application didnt have any major red flags (other than needing full aid) that would get me rejected me from everywhere. I’m also very fortunate to have received 80% scholarships from the best 2 american universities on my country, and im still waiting on some other possible sources of funding.
Even if this process didnt turn out to be successful for me, i just want to take a moment to say thank you. A2C was the only place where I felt I could relate to others facing the same issues. I’ve learned so much about the college application process from here, and I couldnt have applied without the help i got from this subreddit. I’m also grateful for the amazing people I’ve met. Thank you for being part of this journey.
And to my fellow international students without any affordable options in the US, i know how it feels. As ive discussed in my CA essay, dont stress over the things you cant control. We did our part, and thats what matters. Im sure there are better opportunities waiting ahead. Applying to the US as an international student is an achievement in itself. I’m so proud of us. Take care ❤️‍🩹

2023.04.01 14:03 thebunnygame Newbie here with three (probably super easy to answer) questions

Hello everybody,
My first day today with alpha progression and I have three questions.
  1. I chose to train 4 days a week. When I check the calendar, it doesn't give me a schedule when to put these 4 days. Should I just pick them as I want or what suits me best, or is there a recommendation within the app I don't see?
  2. today was my first day and in the calendar it gives me a half full green circle. What does this mean? Why is it only half green? Am I missing something? ( Screenshot: https://abload.de/img/screenshot_20230401-15vifm.png)
  3. It tells me to do 10 reps with X weight. What, if I can only do 8? Do I enter 8 into the app and it tells me next time how many reps/which weight based on my previous achievements?

I greatly appreciate your help. Back in the game after 3 years off. Wish me luck :)
