My wife immigrated to the US in 2021. I've been a BOA member for 10+ years and use the cash rewards card for all of my daily expenses and recurring monthly payments. I feel like it doesn't really work in my favor so I want a card that's better for me.
We opened up a debit card in my wife's name with BOA but haven't bothered getting her a credit card, so I was looking at the Venture X because another member can use it without having to pay a fee (so I want my wife to use it to build her credit), but based on my traveling I don't know if it's worth it. Details are below.
I pay everything on time, and we've been working on my one salary for 2 years. Now that she can get a job since she got her permanent residence, I assume we'll travel more but I don't know if that justifies paying for the Venture X, $395, or to just go with Chase Sapphire because it's $95.

FICO Score: 790, usually I average at 800 but we ran our credit and started financing a new car so it took a hit. I'm looking into why now. I made two payments in one month by accident so maybe that's why? Idk.

Travel benefits, hotel and airliners. Do you have any cards you've been looking at? CSP, CSR, or VX. Are you OK with category spending or do you want a general spending card? I'm not sure. I would be happy to have multiple cards if they work for me.
Travel Habits: 1 or 2 of us go to Korea once a year. When we're together we book our own place, usually a cheap air b&b, but when my wife goes alone she just stays with her parents. We go to New England bi-annually and stay for free with my parents but usually go to Boston, NY, or the CT shore once during every trip.
In the future, I have family in Los Angeles, Italy, and friends in Denmark I want to visit but I can't afford any of this now.
Preferred airports: Incheon, Bradley, Logan Airport, and LAX.
Preferred airline: I like United, but my wife needs the ability to book any airline - she prefers direct flights. We try to get the cheapest.

This weekend has been a mess. My little brother just graduated HS and got an apprenticeship. The company pays rent, but not application fees, so my dad used my bros laptop to go and pay the fee.
He found his Reddit account and saw that he’s been posting in subs like this for years, and found out that he also has a boyfriend (who I admire a lot). Our dad’s extremely, violently homophobic and started throwing things at him, including the laptop. My bro and I have messaged on here for years now too, so I panicked and deleted my account since I’m also gay (woman).
I got him 2 nights at a cheap hotel for his safety. His friends are all on vacation or started college early so there’s nowhere safe for him to go (I live across the country). I tried talking to my dad but I know how he is and I know my brother won’t be safe there ever again.
He’s supposed to move into his apartment on Tuesday and we’re getting worried. He talked to his new boss and the apartment but there’s no hope there. The fee is $275 and I just don’t have it and can’t come up with it in time. I can’t even feed myself let alone deal with this.
So what I came here for is to ask- those of you who have gotten kicked out, what did you do? He doesn’t have a car so DoorDash is out of the question. We have no family ties bc our dad is…trash. We’ve tried everything at this point and I’m trying to hold it together but I’m panicking too.

Asking about hotels or hostels - We have homes here so know very little about what the hotels are like. Look on review websites such as TripAdvisor. However, if you say "I've been looking at these three hotels. Which do you think is the better location?" then that's the sort of thing we can answer.
Non-touristy stuff - There are no secret corners where we hide the good stuff from outsiders! This is one of the most written about cities in the world, so when we want to go to a museum, or gallery, go window shopping, or whatever, we look at the same sources as tourists (listings sites, blogs, etc - see front page of the wiki).

I think sometimes people ask the same questions over and over again and the answers tend to go round in circles. Hopefully this will be at least a little unique. I will try and be specific without spelling out to anyone who knows who I am.
After graduating from college and a little bit of grad school I moved back home with my parents. I was at a low point in my life then and suffering from depression and unhappy with being single. I went through years of therapy to work on it and feel I am a much happier person now. Needless to say having depression, not having much self confidence and living at home led me to always staying single and sometimes going years in between dates.
For the next ten years I worked doing the kinds of jobs no one wants to do. Cleaning, hard labor, working outside, some jobs were even dangerous. I never earned much and never developed any useful skills. I am not bitter- I am just explaining what I did for work and how I spent those years.
I learned to live a cheap and simple lifestyle at home. My hobbies became music, reading and art. Slowly but surely I started to save money. My parents did not charge me rent or for food (I am forever grateful to them and they probably saved my life). I was always open to dating and meeting the right person and getting a place with them to split costs. But nobody ever had any interest.
I of course did not try hard enough. I was emberassed with my jobs and that I lived at home. And I came to blame living with my parents for why no girl even wanted a first date with me.
I had actually briefly moved out before covid. Then that happened and I moved back in with my parents (it was best all around for many reasons).
But I did start to have a repectable amount saved up. And a year and a half ago I got a great deal on a townhouse and bought a 3 bedroom/ 1 bath for under 100,000. I was able to pay cash. I have no mortgage, no HOA fee, and even my property tax is more than reasonable. I put another 30,000 into fixing it up. Not that it should matter but thay pretty much was the end of my savings. I have just enough to help me buy a new car when my current one dies but that is it.
Six months ago I moved into my townhouse alone. I hoped I would never have to move back in with my parents and finally now could start dating and get into a relationship. I obviously have some flaws and some hang ups (working on them I promise, but some are tough). I was working a really crappy and hard warehouse job. Going home alone after half killing myself each day got harder and harder. So a few weeks ago I quit my warehouse job.
I decided then I did not want to work those really hard back breaking jobs anymore. I am 36 now. My body was so sore and emotionally I was so strung out. I have a part time retail job right now and am looking for a second part time job. If you are curious I do have health insurance so do not need full time work. Also if you were curious whether I had health insurance thank you for caring.
I guess we are to the unique point in my story. I really don't know if I ever want to do more than low stress, low strain jobs ever again. I can pay for all my bills (health, electric, water, food, gas, insurance- you get the idea), on my own. Maybe I just want to work low level retail for the next 35 years and retire. Lord knows my anxiety and high blood pressure would thank me.
But how do I sell this to women? I may never make more tha 35,000 a year (inflation not counting of course). It is super hard to be a 36 year old guy who does a basic retail job and even get a first date.
I can afford to pay for dates- not luxury ones. If I ever married and we could combine our incomes we could afford a small family- or to travel, or eat out a bunch- whatever she wants. We could not afford to do everything and together we have to choose what is most important to us. I know we can have a great life though.
We would never be rich and probably would never be able to afford a big house or anything (I don't want one anyways and I am very proud of my townhouse). But even her just making the same amount as me or a little less and we could live great as far as I am concerned.
I had such high hopes for moving out on my own. That dream was shattered. And now I even have a less prestigious job which has hurt my self confidence with women even more. Any advice at all would be so appreciated. Even if it is just advice on how to explain to women my job situation without scaring them off would be nice.
Just a few details if anyone wants a better picture of me: I am 36, never married and no kids (should be obvious but you never know).
I am open to dating women with kids as long as they have two or less- hey a three bedroom place has limits. I am open to dating younger than me and open to dating older. Although not super into dating over say 40 at this time.
I live in a medium sized city in a red part of a blue state. My politics are moderate but lean slightly left. The urban area I live in is just over 100k and the metro area is about 300k. To some people this may be a big city to others a small town.

1. On Her Majesty's Secret Service - Great setting for the villains lair with Piz Gloria, Telly Savalas is the second-best Blofeld (behind Pleasance). Diana Rigg elevates the film as well. Lazenby is.... serviceable. The title sequence is fine, if a little reliant on the previous films, but I love the instrumental theme for the film. It's become a little bit overrated in the last decade.
   
2. Moonraker - Vasty underrated in my opinion. Points off for essentially being a remake of TSWLM's plot, but great fun nonetheless. I just love the Bassey theme song in this one. Corinne's death scene is surprisingly creepy and dark.
   
3. Licence to Kill - Dalton coming into his own here, a shame it turned out to be his last one. Franz Sanchez is one of the great villains of the series, the first one that I would call "complex". We needed more of Desmond Llewelyn's Q in the field ally XD. I wish the film didn't look so cheap though, as many have said it looks like an episode of Miami Vice.
   
4. From Russia with Love - Red Grant, while not the main villain, is very enjoyable, sort of a "dark side of James Bond" type. Kerim Bay is my favorite bond ally (not including Felix Leiter). The plot is a bit complicated to follow sometimes. I get "North By Northwest" vibes from this one. I love a good train sequence in Bond.
   
5. Goldfinger - This one has changed a lot in my ranking. I used to put it as literally number 1, but found myself enjoying Roger Moore a lot more in a recent marathon of his films and that knocked this one back quite a bit. Still great though, Goldfinger and Oddjob are probably the best villain/henchman team to date.
   
6. For Your Eyes Only - Like Goldfinger, this one has moved around a lot in my rankings over the years. I used to consider it rather mediocre, but it's become a go-to "cozy" movie for me. Roger Moore's best performance as Bond in my opinion, very grounded, and after the cheesy pre-title sequence it's played "fairly" straight throughout. Colombo is another favorite bond Ally, Melina and Bond have decent chemistry despite the obvious age difference, the rock-climbing sequence is very intense, and I really enjoy the theme song by Sheena Easton. In fact the entire score is among my favorites if I am in the mood to listen to a bond soundtrack on YouTube, very mellow and soothing.
   
7. Casino Royale - Craig is a pleasant surprise as Bond in this one, even though I don't really like him in the role. Vesper Lynd has more gravitas as a Bond girl than most. Le Chiffre is scary and believable. Intense action and theme song, this film was what the series needed at the time. I just wish they would have embraced the fun aspect of the series again right after this. About 20 minutes too long.
   
8. The Living Daylights - The first act is PITCH PERFECT. Dalton is the best actor in the role, hands down. The opera house scene is ripped right off of the page, just great. Kara is kind of annoying sometimes but one of the better romances in the series I think. The film loses its way a little once we get to Afghanistan. It also suffers from a weak villain in Brad Whittaker, to the point where I sometimes wonder if Georgi Koskov, himself lacking charisma and intrigue, is a better antagonist.
   
9. The Spy Who Loved Me - Another weak villain, but more than made up for by a great henchman in Jaws. This one actually has my favorite theme song of them all. Anya Amasova is capable if a little wooden, but very sexy. Top-notch gadget in the form of the Lotus Esprit, and some great iconography in the villain's lair.
   
10. GoldenEye - Like Dalton, Pierce Brosnan was just born for this role. The pre-title sequence is probably the single most iconic in the series history. We have not one but three memorable henchmen on top of a great villain. Natalia is the hottest Bond girl in the series, and as a bonus is actually a good character XD. Great pace, two all-time action set pieces just off the top of my head (bungee jump and tank through St. Petersburg). Likable ally in the form of Jack Wade, pretty good theme song and title sequence. The only blemish on the film, as I see it, would be the soundtrack. Otherwise this is a perfect Bond film. Get Martin Campbell back for Bond 26!

Hi LT hikers, I am trying to figure out how to get from the northern terminus to where my car will be at Manchester center. I have looked into public transit options from St Albans to Burlington then to Manchester center. It looks like to make this a viable option I would need to stay somewhere near the Amtrak station as all options leave early. Do you know of any hostels options in St Albans? Has anyone done this? Would it be easier to just pay a shuttle or rent a car? Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks

Hello, my name is Tiffany Smith from Michigan, I am a mother of two (Daughter 15, Son 11) I have worked in the healthcare field as a CNA/Medical Technician for about 6yrs. In July of 2021, I opened my own cleaning business (Tsj_Cleaning Services, LLC). January of 2022 I end up quitting my job to put more time into my cleaning business because business had really picked up and I was making enough to cover my expenses. I was able to move me and my family into a bigger house and upgrade our car. Since then business has been great but has slowed up tremendously. I got behind on all my bills, our car end up getting repossessed and now we are facing eviction for 5 months back rent we have 10 days to come up with $10,000 back rent so an eviction won't be on my name, $5000 to move into a new place and a lil over $1000 in bills. I will be back to work within 2 weeks but I don't have enough time to wait for my paycheck to cover expenses. I have tried to get loans but due to my credit I'm getting denied all around. My sons father is a great help and greatly appreciated, he is our only help right now and its causing a great stress on him as well because he can't do more. I am a God fearing woman and I know God got us and will not put to much on us we can't handle. Although I'm keeping my faith, smiling and praying all Gods children need a lil help sometimes, its takes a village. I’ve always been the kind of person to keep bills paid, pay for dates, shop on my own dime, pay for all vacation expenses, etc. However, I fell on a very hard and unexpected situation last December right before a vacation I planned for my partner. When we returned, I had nearly no money and not much to go home to since I no longer had one at this point. She helped me get an apartment and supported me through the unexpected financial strain I’d fallen into. Since I no longer had a job and had to move a couple of cities away for cheap rent, it took much longer than expected for me to get a job. I’m talking 2 1/2 months or more. I ended up getting contracted for a pretty great opportunity (finally) and could get back ahead of things a little. I was able to go back to paying bills and releasing the financial burden off of my partner. However, once again, I fell onto another bad situation that took me right back to square one. My contract wasn’t extended even though I thought I did a great job, and I’m without work again. My partner has an awesome job at Apple that allows her to be able to carry us, but it still feels like I’m just not reaching where I was before. There was a point in which I was able to take care of both of us, but now my bank account is drained and all I do is cook for her and clean around the house. She tells me she’s grateful and I believe her, but it doesn’t feel like enough. It gets harder every day and it doesn’t help that every time she brings up the job search I just get depressed about it. I’ve been applying and interviewing but it seems like nothing is biting. I’m at a point where it’s starting to make everything feel really gloomy for me. I can’t even connect with her romantically or intimately the same way because I feel so useless. What do I do?
