So I've been going through a period of life where I sold my PC and just kinda waiting for a good deal to come along. So I dusted off my R1 i3 today.
I have 2x4gb of ram. Wonder how much 2x8gb would cost? Also thought about buying and upgrading the hard drive to a SSD, I see some for under $50 for a 512gb. I'm thinking $75 maybe to upgrade both of these.
What kind of performance am I going to see? I know faster load times, but shouldn't micro stutters go away in some games that constantly load? And possibly FPS might increase as well?
I'm pretty surprised that I can play some games on 1080p at 120fps on low or medium settings, that's crazy to me. I never had a 120hz or higher monitor to test it out when I was using it, I only had a 120hz monitor when I got my PC to replace it and never tried it out on the steam machine thinking it couldn't handle it, but it can!
Anyone else amazed at what it can still do?

I recently -3months- joined a new company, the current structure is 8 non management(including me) 1 supervisor, 1 head of department, 1 director, 1 executive reporting to CEO, and the CEO.
I am the most recent hire, I managed to report directly to the head of department(unofficial assistant to the head of department), since he have a lot of tasks on his plate and doesn’t trust his supervisor.
I got a separate office while the rest of the non management staff all work at one room, one telephone & one email. Some of them have been working in the same department for over 10 years, 4 of them are at higher grade than me and only one contributes towards developing the department, but they are not interested in climbing up the ladder. They enjoy doing the bare minimum and have received multiple warnings regarding their low performance.
I do some high level tasks assigned to the head of department such as writing reports to government agencies & representing my department with private companies, and consultants. I also attend interdepartmental meetings representing the department and do regular non management tasks too.
Since i do add more value to the department & company when compared with my non management colleagues, how/when should i ask for a raise since I’m handling more tasks than usual non management staff? My company have a policy of promoting employees from one grade to another every 4 years of work, I need to get promoted twice before I reach management level grade. I find this policy counterintuitive in my opinion since i could slack off 4 years and get the same grade promotion as working hard for 4 years.
Our department is transition phase before i joined, and it is still in transition. we had two manager and head of department that quit. The department was recently shifted from one director to another (1 week ago) due to problems between the old director and the head of department. The head of department did indicate there will be room for improvements under the new director, they might bring more supervisors to the department from other departments to help change the work culture & environment, i might share the office im at with someone new. Im afraid if they bring in someone from outside I will go back to doing routine non management tasks and the doors will be closed on me with no room for promotion or handling any management work making me of less value to the department.
Sorry for the long paragraphs, but i feel like I’m in the crossroads and need advice before its too late to take any actions.
Should I approach my head of department and ask him for reassessing my job title from assistant to assistant head of department(without bumping up my grade), ask for a raise, or be passive about the whole thing and take no actions?

I have no driver's license and nobody ever has the time to take me driving; I also have a disability that makes driving difficult. And I live rurally, so there's basically nowhere to work; the only business within reasonable walking distance is a family business. I've considered learning to bike, but the roads out here are either surrounded by trees on either side, or they have inclines/declines that are way too strenuous to bike near-daily.
My best bet is to move into town and get a job there, but I have no idea where I'd find a place to stay. My partner's house is technically available, but I don't think I'd feel safe transitioning there. I don't really have any friends I can ask to stay with either.
I'm open to getting a license in the future, but it's probably not going to happen until I have a job and can maybe take driving classes (though I know those are going to be expensive).
Even if I got lucky and could move out, the stress of leaving my cats and siblings, and even my parents (despite being closeted to them) makes me feel awful.
If anyone has practical advice I wouldn't be against listening. Again, I just feel stuck.

Hi, I'm a 29 year old straight cis-gender male who has never had a wife, fiancée, or girlfriend despite having had many crushes/obsessions where I believed I was in love at the time. Every single time I put my foot out there but it ultimately doesn't work out. I have multiple theories about what might be wrong with me, most revolving around my personality (I'm 5'11" and have always been upper middle class so I don't think height or money are my problem). My looks with glasses on are below average but I've seen uglier men with girlfriends so I think the thing that is really killing me is my personality. I don't know if this helps you understand me better, but like my social media posts tend to focus on me rather than other people. I don't know how to explain it exactly, but for example on Instagram I saw my cousin make a story that said "Post your gf/bf, they deserve it" with a picture of his girlfriend smiling and I replied to that story with my own story with that same comment at the top and a picture of my right hand, post visible here. The song in the background of that post, "Orgy for One" by NSP is a comedy song about a guy who invites a large number of girls over for an orgy but nobody shows up so he has an "Orgy for One" with his hand. I like that song and the post is supposed to be funny and also speak my truth. I think it might also give a clue about my personality.
Another example of how my social media is kind of completely self-interested is on yesterday, Trans Day of Visibility (March 31), I posted this on Facebook:

- I am narcissistic (but I don't have Narcissistic Personality Disorder because there are multiple symptoms of that disorder and I only have like 1 or 2 out of 6 or 7 and no psychiatrist or therapist has ever diagnosed me with it).
- I am completely self-interested.
- I am completely selfish (I mean I sometimes give homeless people spare cash but I just do it because it makes me feel happy).
- I only care about myself and what I go through. Like sometimes on a dating app a woman will ask me how am I and I will respond saying something like "I'm in pain and depressed" and she'll be like "yikes" and unmatch me.
- I briefly feel love (like when I pet my pet) and I may think I'm in love at the time (like when I have a crush), but I don't truly love others and only love myself. I've had crushes where I believed I loved them at the time but then they ghosted me and after I realized it wasn't real love.
- I am exclusively obsessed with myself.

In high school, I did over 300 hours of clinical volunteering in the emergency room of my local hospital and I was also the lead TA of a program that gave students insight into what medical school would look like (a mini medical school sort of situation). Can I add these 2 experiences to my app to show longevity? I also have been involved in research since I was of age to enter a lab (which I intend on including on my application). I was involved in 2 labs during undergrad and 2 labs during high school, should I put them all in the same activity or split them up a certain way? Thank you so much!!

I write long, detailed replies in the literate style. My length can vary based on what I receive, but for interest's sake I like to keep them from being too absurdly long. Third person is heavily preferred, but I'm not a stickler for tense. I'm looking for someone who is at LEAST 18.FANDOMS/THE CHARACTERS I CAN PLAY IN THEM
Content wise, I prefer dark and drama filled plots. We can discuss what that means in detail later but, for clarification, I'm not looking for slice of life fluff at the moment. With that said, I'm one hundred percent open to multiple plots and tropes, don't be afraid to suggest things! I'm pretty lenient with fiction. Currently I'm looking for Canons (any gender pairing) or OCs that are well-developed/written.
Fandom-wise, I'm also a big fan of crossover roleplays as well. But that can be up for you to decide.
Looking to give ships time to grow, create the chemistry in RP, and enjoy a gradual burn. Prefer the lead in and then 'fade to black' approach for the adult situations.
Main goal is to dig into the canon history and building on it in interesting ways. Appreciate thoughtful & nuanced portrayals that treat canon characters as complex.
I am a literate writer and expect the same from you. One-liners are only acceptable for the interactions that demand them, but they will remain rare. I will not drown you in text every other response, but I will write up to what I feel is appropriate and I expect you to do the same. I average 3-6 paragraphs once we are past introductory material.
Please be open to writing a cast of characters if the plot calls for it. I don't mind if the focus is solely on two people, but there is room for secondary and background characters.
Would love to tailor plots to the specific characters and their potential dynamic. I absolutely love the process of plotting, workshopping ideas, spinning off into AUs and generally finding something that can be really character driven.
Plot-based stuff is going to be all up to discussion. Things can get dark. They can be as dark as you want them to be. On the lighter side, I love the different relationship dynamics that can come of the characters unique personalities. Either way, if you have an idea, spring it on me and we'll see if things work out.
Have an idea for a scene? Found a picture that inspired you? Send it to me! Be invested when it comes to plotting/worldbuilding. There's nothing worse than receiving one sentence in reply to two paragraphs of ideas, or having a doormat partner who says "sure" to whatever I ask. Building ideas one on top of the other, watching them snowball into amazing plot threads brings me joy. But having to pull plot ideas like I'm pulling teeth makes me think you're not interested, and I will lose interest in return.
For now, I'm only looking to write MxF and FxF pairings.
Last but not least, and this is not a requirement, I'm a huge fan of talking about our plot. By that I mean I enjoy making playlists, sharing pinterest boards and random photos that remind us of the characters et cetera. Mid february, i got ill with a virus / covid. We dont know for sure i had covid but my mom did pretty heavily. The flu/covid seemed to have triggered my asthma since i developed breathing problems. That lasted for 2 weeks, the breathing issues went away, then the cough started a week after. Thats been going on for a week now aswell. The cough is with and without mucus. My tests ive done: - Xray of lungs in October (clean)

Mid february, i got ill with a virus / covid. We dont know for sure i had covid but my mom did pretty heavily. The flu/covid seemed to have triggered my asthma since i developed breathing problems. That lasted for 2 weeks, the breathing issues went away, then the cough started a week after. Thats been going on for a week now aswell. The cough is with and without mucus. If mucus comes loose its white and green. Also today a dull pain in my back has occured

- lung function test (very good for an asthmatic)
- 4 doctors have listened to my lungs and examined me, saying there is nothing wrong
- CBC done (normal)
- lung capacity at 99%
What could this be? Long covid? Astha worsened? Something worse? Hopefully anyone here has a clue

I am in the process of installing a sub panel in my workshop shed. Still deciding on whether I want to go with 100 amp or save some money and settle for 80 amp (could end up running a 120v plasma cutter, lights, air compressor, and window AC unit simultaneously on occasion).
My meter feeds into a panel right at the pole where it passes through then feeds the 200amp subpanel in the house about 150ft away. This outdoor panel also feeds the air conditioner and well pump. I feel like this would be a preferred place to run the shed subpanel from, but this panel is much further away than the home subpanel and will require many more materials.
Would power use in the shed be more likely to cause light dimming in the house if it's fed from the house subpanel vs the panel at the pole? I'd definitely prefer to save money on the conduit and wire, but it feels wrong running a subpanel off the house subpanel.

They were about this Australian(?) teenage spy kid who would go and spy on people like foreign nationals and mafia bosses or something of the sorts. There was one book where there was a scene where he was on a snowmobile and he flung it off of sort of a ramp and hit a helicopter in mid-air. I believe the books would also involve him being thought to be dead but would come back later on and reveal that he’s still alive. So, I don't see anything on this anywhere I've looked, not my particular problem. As far as I know my Series X is having trouble playing Shadow Warrior 3, Wo Long, and Atomic Heart. But I haven't played much of anything else lately, so I can't really say.
This problem doesn't happen alot while playing, but sometimes in game, every 5 or 10 minutes the game will stall, the screen will freeze, and the controller only works for the guide and doesn't work controlling the in game action. It does it with and without internet. It pauses like this, only for a second or so, then normal like nothing happened
I don't think this is hardware related. When I clear my cache, when I clear my system saved xbox, and 360 data, the problem goes away. I just factory reset my console and kept the apps and games, the problem hasn't happened since.
It's well vinilated and it's not overheating. It's clean as a whistle, and it happens anywhere from minutes in to hours in.
Am I the only one going through this? And if not, is there a permanent solution, and is this a typical occurrence? It's not really that big of an issue, but it is an issue, and I can't find anything on this in any forums or help I search. Appreciate the help in advance, thanks.

Just got out of a LTR. As far was women go I've only been with two in my whole life and both were LTR. First relationship was with my first girlfriend, started when I was 18 and lasted until 2017 when I turned 30. Life got in between us and she left me, that breakup was really tough but I got through it. My next relationship started in 2020 and ended this February. I was really trying hard to make it work and I'm unhappy about it ending, but I had no choice but to break up with her. I was pretty vulnerable when we first got together, and I didn't notice/subconsciously ignored all the dealbreaker red flags. Believe me when I say I was fully committed to this girl and was trying to build a future with her, but her actions made it impossible for me to stay with her.
So now I'm 35 and single. I've decided for the time being to take some time away from relationships to work on myself. I do want to get married and have a family someday, and I know the clock is ticking for me.
