We open on a Hollywood-themed casino.
Narrator: Welcome to the biggest event in all of CPWA.
The doors swing open and we see slot machines with the names and faces of various CPWA talents, including "The Number One Pick" LeJuan Jones, The Jordans (Shelton, Elijah, Deron "Ron", and Cedric), Keith Yang, and Kaine Harris.
Narrator: Where everything is more than on the line.
We then see a poker table where King Shaka, Ivan Markov, Jordan Angle, Logan Lemming, and "The King of Mexican Strong Style" Antonio Garcia are sitting and playing cards.
Narrator: Where having an ace up your sleeve can change the difference between victory and defeat.
We then see the Hart Sisters (Crystal and Tracy), The Olympians (Clarissa Yang and Regina Lewis), Mary Addams, "The Orange Idol Princess" Aiko Yoshida, Cristina Moreira, and Queen Sheba all placing bets.
Narrator: Where lady luck can is a fighting dame.
We then see every superstar at a roulette table as we see someone blowing dice in their hands as they shake and throw them at the table.
Narrator: Roll the dice, always bet on black, and remember that the stakes are more than high! This is High stakes!
De La Soul's "Stakes is High" plays in the arena as pyro we see pyro go off for a few seconds, followed by cheering from the crowd.
Brian Kinsley: We welcome to CPWA High$takes! We are coming to you live from Los Angeles. Brian Kinsley along with Anthony Harris and Sir Samuel Stewart, we have finally arrived for the big one! Every championship is on the line including the CPWA World Heavyweight Championship as Kaine Harris defends the CPWA World Heavyweight Championship against Shelton Jordan, Keith Yang, and "The Number One Pick" LeJuan Jones! Let's get right to the action!
Announcer: The following contest is scheduled for...
Crowd: ONE FALL!
Announcer: And it is for the CPWA Cruiserweight Tag Team Championship!
Men at Work's "Down Under" plays in the arena.
Announcer: Introducing first, the team of Remy LaCroix and Wade Parker, the Quebec Outback Connection.
Franz Ferdinand's "Take Me Out" plays in the arena.
Announcer: Next, from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, they are Steve and Adam, the Odenkirks.
80s Synth Track Nightscapes plays in the arena.
Announcer: Finally, from Los Angeles, they are the CPWA Cruiserweight Tag Team Champions, the team of Mark Starr and Ricky Vice, StarrVice!

Match 1: CPWA Cruiserweight Tag Team Championship: The Quebec Outback Connection (Remy LaCroix and Wade Parker) vs. The Odenkirks (Steve and Adam) vs. StarrVice (c) (Mark Starr and Ricky Vice)
The opener wasn't bad but it certainly wasn't good either. Aside from the huge pop StarrVice got, they didn't get any offense going. The Odenkirks were decimating their opponents and were looking to secure the victory quickly, but the QOC prevented that from happening. StarrVice rallied themselves back into the match, which saw Ricky Vice pull off a diving plancha onto Remy LaCroix and the Odenkirks. This allowed Mark Starr to hit the Starlight Driver on Wade Parker for StarrVice to retain the CPWA Cruiserweight Tag Team Championships.
2 out of 5 stars.
After the match, StarrVice celebrated with the crowd.
We cut backstage as we see Kevin Meyers interviewing "The Number One Pick" LeJuan Jones and Brother Julius. LeJuan says that he will regain the CPWA World Heavyweight Championship and prove to everyone that he is "The Chosen One" and remain on top of the CPWA.
We cut back to the arena.
Announcer: The following contest is a fatal-four Cruiserweight showcase!
Almighty 3's "To The Other MC's" plays in the arena.
Announcer: Introducing first, from Opa-Locka, Florida, he is Money Mark!
Punjabi MC's "Sounds of the Des" plays in the arena
Announcer: Next, from Mumbai, India, Sharnaz Khan.
Tego Calderon's "Mil Cosas" plays in the arena
Announcer: Next, from San Juan, Puerto Rico, Angel Vega
Less Than Jake's "P.S. Shock The World" plays in the background.
Announcer: And the final participant, from New Orleans, Louisiana, Jason Reynolds.

Match 2: Fatal Four-Way Cruiserweight Showcase: Money Mark vs. Sharnaz Khan vs. Angel Vega vs. Jason Reynolds
There's a good reason why the cruiserweights always put on a great show and this was no exception. Angel Vega started the match hot, followed by some high-flying attacks on Money Mark and Sharnaz Khan. There was a scary moment in the match where Jason Reynolds almost knocked himself out when he missed a shooting star press on Khan. Despite the scare, Reynolds managed to fight his way back into the match. Angel Vega would win the match Angel's Wings (Wing Clipper) on Sharnaz Khan to get the win.
FIVE STARS!!!!!
We cut to a music video hyping up the Hart Sisters, Crystal and Tracy.
We cut back to the arena.
Announcer: The following contest is scheduled for one fall and it is for the CPWA Women's Tag Team Championship.
Leo Arnaud's "Bulger's Dream" plays in the arena
Announcer: Introducing first, representing The Olympians, they are the team of Clarissa Yang and Regina Lewis
"Hitman" plays in the arena
Announcer: And their opponents, from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, they are the CPWA Women's Tag Team Champions, Crystal and Tracy, the Hart Sisters.
Match 3: CPWA Women's Tag Team Championship: The Olympians (Clarissa Yang and Regina Lewis) vs. The Hart Sisters (Crystal and Tracy)
It was a technical showcase between two teams with lots of grappling, takedowns, and submissions. The Olympians had control of the match, isolating Tracy from Crystal. Every time Crystal got the tag, the referee never saw it, forcing Crystal back to her corner. Eventually, Crystal would get the hot tag, as she was a house of fire, taking down both Clarissa Yang and Regina Lewis. Crystal placed the sharpshooter on Lewis to make her tap out as the Hart Sisters regained the CPWA Women's Tag Team Championship.
2 out of 5 stars.
We are then shown a hype package that covers the rivalry between "The King of Mexican Strong Style" Antonio Garcia and Logan Lemming.
We cut back to the arena.
Announcer: The following contest is scheduled for one fall with a 25-minute time limit.
Vincente Fernandez's "Los Mandados" plays in the arena as a Mariachi band plays and leads "The King of Mexican Strong Style.
Announcer: Introducing first, from Mexico City, Mexico, he is "The King of Mexican Strong Style," Antonio Garcia.
Motley Crue's "Shout At The Devil" plays in the arena as a rock band plays the tune.
Announcer: Introducing first, the challenger, accompanied to the ring by Monroe Storm, from Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, he is Logan Lemming.
Match 4: "The King of Mexican Strong Style" Antonio Garcia vs. Logan Lemming
Aside from the huge pop that "The King of Mexican Strong Style" received, this match felt completely flat. As much as there were hard-hitting attacks from both men, only a half of the crowd was into this match. Thankfully, the match ended with Antonio Garcia placing Logan in a Surfboard Press to win.
1 out of 5 stars.
We cut to backstage and we see Kimberly Reynolds interviewing Shelton Jordan. Shelton believes that this will be the night that not only will he win the CPWA World Heavyweight Championship, but Deron "Ron" Jordan will become the next CPWA International Champion.
We cut back to the arena.
Announcer: The following contest is scheduled for one fall and it is for the CPWA Hardcore Championship.
Yoshida Brothers' "Storm" plays in the arena.
Announcer: Introducing first, from Kagoshima, Japan, he is the CPWA Hardcore Champion Kenshiro Ishii.
Kenshiro Ishii stands in the ring awaiting his opponent. Suddenly, the lights go out and we hear an ominous female voice.
Female voice: Pretty Boy...oh, my sweet sweet Pretty Boy...the time has come. Punish...them...all!
Glitter Wasteland's "Cold War (Nightcrawler Remix)" plays in the arena as the lights come back on with a bluish and red color as Pretty Boy makes his debut.
https://preview.redd.it/g24bblrdl6ra1.png?width=1364&format=png&auto=webp&s=e5f9ebeec084738f52f1e37960963a64061de3d1
Brian Kinsley: My god! He's here! It's...Pretty Boy!
Anthony Harris: Look at the bloodstains on the brother's suit! Who or what did he kill before he got here?
Sir Samuel Stewart: Whoever was going to face Kenshiro Ishii for the Hardcore Championship. I'm going to have nightmares of this guy.
Match 5: CPWA Hardcore Championship: Kenshiro Ishii (c) vs. Pretty Boy
The highly-anticipated debut of Pretty Boy lived up to the hype, but as for the match itself, Kenshiro threw everything at him, but Pretty Boy wasn't budging. Even throwing weapons in the ring couldn't slow down Pretty Boy. A simple chokeslam and tombstone pile driver was all it took to put away Kenshiro Ishii as Pretty Boy would win the CPWA Hardcore Championship.
3 out of 5 stars.
We cut to a hype package covering the rivalry between "The Orange Idol Princess" Aiko Yoshida and "The Iron Maiden" Mary Addams
We cut back to the arena.
Announcer: The following contest is scheduled for one fall and it is for the CPWA Women's International Championship.
Kyary Pamyu Pamyu's "PONPONPON" plays in the arena as the crowd claps along to the beat and chants her name.
Announcer: Introducing first, from Yokohama, Japan, she is "The Orange Idol Princess" Aiko Yoshida.
Iron Maiden's "The Prisoner" plays in the arena as "The Iron Maiden" Mary Addams emerged from an actual Iron Maiden, which emerges from the stage, as part of her entrance.
Announcer: Introducing first, from Boston, Massachusetts, she is the CPWA Women's International Champion "The Iron Maiden" Mary Addams.
Match 6: CPWA Women's International Championship: "The Orange Idol Princess" Aiko Yoshida vs. "The Iron Maiden" Mary Addams (c)
To sum up this match in one word wouldn't be enough. Brutal, hard-hitting, smash-mouth, whatever you want to call it, it was not pretty as Mary Addams had her way with Aiko Yoshida. Addams made the mistake of toying with Yoshida, which prompted a spirited comeback. It looked like Yoshida was going to win the match, but it wasn't meant to be as Mary Addams placed Yoshida in the Iron Maiden to retain the CPWA Women's International Championship.
3 out of 5 stars.
After the match, Shiori Yoshimura entered the ring to confront Mary Addams, perhaps signaling herself as the next challenger for the CPWA Women's International Championship.
We cut to a hype package for King Shaka.
We cut back to the arena.
Announcer: The following contest is scheduled for one fall with a 25-minute time limit.
Aloe Blacc's "A King is Born" plays in the arena as King Shaka is carried on a throne as part of his entrance.
Announcer: Introducing first, from Johannesburg, South Africa, he is King Shaka
Red Army Choir's "The Artilleryman's Song" plays in the arena. Ivan Markov is accompanied to the ring by "Russian Soldiers".
Announcer: And his opponent, from St. Petersburg, Russia, Ivan Markov.

Match 7: King Shaka vs. Ivan Markov
This was quite the star-making match as Ivan Markov continues to find momentum within his time in CPWA. It was a back-and-forth match that saw both men giving it their all. In the end, it would be a Markov Recliner (The Accolade/Steiner Recliner) that would put away King Shaka in a shocking victory.
4 out of 5 stars.
***Intermission***
We cut back from intermission and we return back to the ring.
Announcer: The following contest is scheduled for one fall and it is a triple-threat match for the CPWA Television Championship.
Aka-Manto Chase Theme plays in the arena as red lights engulf the arena.
Announcer: Introducing first, from the bowels of Jigoku, he is Aka-Manto.
An organ cover to Runaway Casket plays in the arena as we see a hearse drive down the ramp. Two pallbearers open the backdoor and take out a casket and place it on a cot. The pallbearers open the casket, revealing The Mortician, who enters the ring.
Announcer: Introducing next, from the Resting Peace funeral home, he is the CPWA Television Champion, The Mortician.
Led Zeppelin's "Immigrant Song" (Elliot Loud version) plays in the arena as Mangod makes his way through the crowd, headbutting people at random.
Announcer: And finally, from God knows where, he is the CPWA Television Champion, Mangod!
Match 8: CPWA Television Championship: Aka-Manto vs. The Mortician vs. Mangod (c)
A wild and crazy triple-threat match had to be one of the better highlights of the night. All three competitors at one point or another held the CPWA Television Championship, so they knew what was at stake. Although Aka-Manto and The Mortician started off the match double-teaming Mangod, the wild man himself went on the offensive and never looked back. There was even a spot where Mangod did a Glorious Headbutt from Hell diving spot on both Aka-Manto and The Mortician, who were concealed in the casket. The match ended with another Glorious Headbutt From Hell on Aka-Manto for the win.
4 out of 5 stars.
After the match, Mangod swung the CPWA Television Championship over his head a la Seth Freakin' Rollins before going into the crowd to celebrate.
We cut to backstage and we see Kevin Meyers interviewing Keith Yang. Keith Yang talks about how it will be destiny for him to become CPWA World Heavyweight Champion and that he will make history tonight.
We cut back to the arena.
Announcer: The following contest is scheduled for one fall with a 25-minute time limit.
Hayabusa's "Fight With Dream" plays in the arena.
Announcer: Introducing first, from Yokohama, Japan, he is Shadow Nagasaki.
Ultimo Dragon's 2nd theme plays in the arena.
Announcer: His tag team partners, introducing first, from Shanghai, China, making his CPWA debut, El Oro De Fenix
JB Rock's Metal cover of the Gladiator theme plays in the arena.
Announcer: Finally, from El Colosseo de Mexico, he is El Gladiador!
Leo Arnaud's "Bulger's Dream" plays in the arena
Announcer: And their opponents, representing The Olympians, the team of Ryan Phelps, Miles Orozco, and Jordan Angle
Match 9: Six-Man Tag Match: Shadow Nagasaki, El Oro De Fenix, and El Gladiador vs. The Olympians (Ryan Phelps, Miles Orozco, and Jordan Angle)
This match had no story or heat to speak of, but the only highlight was seeing Jordan Angle get involved with this big event in some way. Sadly, this doesn't favor The Olympians at all. The highlights of the night saw Shadow Nagasaki, Miles Orozco, and the debuting El Oro De Fenix fly around the ring. The match ended with a Phoenix Splash from El Oro De Fenix.
2 out of 5 stars.
We have a hype package for Cristina Moreira.
We cut back to the arena.
Announcer: The following contest is scheduled for one fall and it is for the CPWA Women's Championship.

Estrada de Estrela plays in the arena as samba dancers and a carnival float accompany Cristina Moreira to the ring.
Announcer: Introducing first, from Sao Paulo, Brazil, she is the inaugural Star Empress Tournament winner Cristina Moreira.
Queen Latifah's "Wrath of my Madness" plays in the arena as Queen Sheba is accompanied to the ring by several female guards.
Announcer: And her opponent, originally from Johannesburg, South Africa but now residing in Miami, Florida, she is Queen Sheba.

Match 10: CPWA Women's Championship: Cristina Moreira vs. Queen Sheba (c)
As much as this match was highly anticipated, it really didn't live up to the hype. Both women shook hands, but after that, it was a matter of who could dominate who in the ring. Queen Sheba had the match won, but a Spinning Float Over DDT from Moreira secured her the victory and the CPWA Women's Championship.
1 out of 5 stars.
After the match, Cristina Moreira shook hands with Queen Sheba.
Announcer: The following contest is a six-man ladder match for the CPWA Cruiserweight Championship!
M.O.P.'s "Fly N***a Hill F***a" plays in the arena.
Announcer: Introducing first, from Brooklyn, New York, "The Hi-Fli Kid," Jerome Evans.
The March of Death theme plays in the arena.
Announcer: Next, from Guadalajara, Mexico, this is El Colibri
Blood Brothers' "Replica" plays in the arena
Announcer: Next, representing The Commonwealth, from Adelaide, Australia, he is Kelly Lawton
Mysterious music plays in the arena.
Announcer: Next, from Guadalajara, Mexico, this is Silver Eyes.
Rain's "It's Raining" begins to play in the arena
Announcer: Next, from Seoul, South Korea, he is "The Korean Idol" Han Sang-Hoon!
DJ Mercer's "Alright" plays in the arena.
Announcer: And finally, from Tokyo, Japan, he is the CPWA Cruiserweight Champion, MAGNUM Koyama.
Match 11: Six-Man Ladder Match for the CPWA Cruiserweight Championship: "The Hi-Fli Kid" Jerome Evans vs. El Colibri vs. Kelly Lawton vs. Silver Eyes vs. "The Korean Idol" Han Sang-Hoon vs. MAGNUM Koyama
Another match that was highly anticipated and didn't let up on the crazy moments. Right away Kelly Lawton seized the opportunity to climb up the ladder and looked to take the belt for himself, only to be stopped by the rest of the competitors. Jerome Evans, El Colibri, and Silver Eyes each dived off the ladder, performing crazy high-flying attacks. MAGNUM Koyama appeared to be poised to retain the Cruiserweight Championship, only for Han-Sang Hoon to knock him off. This led to a very opportunistic Kelly Lawton to climb the ladder and claiming the CPWA Cruiserweight Championship for himself.
4 out of 5 stars.
We cut to an undisclosed and dark area somewhere in the arena as we see Kaine Harris talk about retaining the CPWA World Heavyweight Championship and building a legacy of his own.
We cut back to the arena.
Announcer: The following contest is scheduled for one fall and it is for the CPWA International Championship.
Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth's "The Creator" plays in the arena.
Announcer: Introducing first, from Miami, Florida, he is Deron "Ron" Jordan.
Blue Blood plays in the arena.
Announcer: And his opponent, representing The Commonwealth, he is the CPWA International Champion, Lord Phillip Byron IV.
Match 12: CPWA International Championship: Deron "Ron" Jordan vs. Lord Phillip Byron IV
This match was a back-and-forth affair between two competitors with different styles. The high-flying, striking, and technical Deron "Ron" Jordan took on the technically refined powerhouse in Lord Phillip Byron IV. Lord Phillip Byron IV had the match won with the Octopus Stretch, but Elijah Jordan interfered and distracted the referee. This allowed Ron to counter the hold and hit the Mad Ride (Cross Rhodes), followed by the solar eclipse to get the win and become the new CPWA International Champion.
2 out of 5 stars.
We see a hype package between the Odenkirks, the Newton Boys, and the Yoshimuras.
We cut back to the arena.
Announcer: The following contest is a Tables, Ladders, and Chairs triple-threat match for the CPWA Tag Team Championship.
Franz Ferdinand's "Take Me Out" plays in the arena.
Announcer: Introducing first, from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, they are William and Jake, the Odenkirks!
Blake Shelton's "Good Ole Boys" plays in the arena.
Announcer: Next, from the great state of Tennessee, Roy and Zechariah, the Newton Boys.
GACKT's "Redemption" plays in the arena
Announcer: Finally, from Osaka, Japan, they are the CPWA Tag Team Champions, Ryota and Daigo, the Yoshimuras.
Match 13: Tables, Ladders, and Chairs triple-threat match for the CPWA Tag Team Championship: The Odenkirks (William and Jake) vs. The Newton Boys (Roy and Zechariah) vs. Ryota and Daigo Yoshimura (c)
Much like the ladder match with the cruiserweights, the tables, ladders, and chairs match was also thrilling. The Odenkirks and The Newtons continued their feud, but the Yoshimuras weren't going to b ignored for long. From brutal chair shots to broken tables, and even a diving ladder spot from Jake Odenkirk, this match was entertaining. The Yoshimuras retained their belts.
4 out of 5 stars.
We receive confirmation that next year's High$takes will take place in Philadelphia.
We get a hype package with Shelton Jordan, Keith Yang, "The Number One Pick" LeJuan Jones, and Kaine Harris.
We cut back to the arena.
Announcer: The following contest is a fatal four-way scheduled for...
Crowd: ONE FALL!
Announcer: And it is for the CPWA World Heavyweight Championship!
Buckshot, Skyzoo, Promise, and Sean Price's "I'm Better Than You" plays in the arena.
Announcer: Introducing first, accompanied to the ring by Brother Julius, from Columbus, Ohio, he is "The Number One Pick," LeJuan Jones.
The Roots' "Do You Want More" plays in the arena.
Announcer: Next, introducing first, representing The Jordan family, from Miami, Florida, he is Shelton Jordan.
Bambu's "Chairman Mao" plays in the arena.
Announcer: Next, from Shanghai, China, he is Keith Yang.

Yonosuke Kitamura's "Lunatic" plays in the arena.
Announcer: Finally, accompanied to the ring by his angel, Jessica, from Oakland, California, he is the CPWA World Heavyweight Champion Kaine Harris.
Main Event: CPWA World Heavyweight Championship: "The Number One Pick" LeJuan Jones vs. Shelton Jordan vs. Keith Yang vs. Kaine Harris (c)
The main event saw all four competitors battle each other for the world title. Right away, Lejuan Jones was easily discarded, along with Kaine Harris. However, "The Number One Pick" would have a few near falls of his own. Not to be outdone Keith Yang rallied back into the match and looked like he was going to secure the victory, but it was not meant to be as Shelton Jordan would hit the exploder suplex on LeJuan Jones for the three count and to become the new CPWA World Heavyweight Champion.
3 out of 5 stars.
Confetti falls from the sky and pyro goes off as Shelton is crowned the new CPWA World Heavyweight Champion. Elijah, Deron "Ron", and Cedric all enter the ring to celebrate with him as High$takes fades to black.

2023.04.01 08:25 nuraman00 The Beverly Hills 90210 Show Podcast: Episode 56: California University 101.

Matthew Porretta (Dan Rubin), Zachary Throne (Howard McDermott), and Director Gilbert Shilton are guest hosts.

"The Little Fish" is also discussed.

* The "set dressing" for the Beverly Hills Beach Club was left up for a 3 months. The city of Santa Monica didn't want it, so I think they had to take it down.
That was part of the reason why there were no more episodes at the Beverly Hills Beach Club.

* The plot of Steve cheating on the placement test, came from Charles Rosin's real life.
When he was at the Universit Of Wisconsin - Madison, he saw a redhead in front of him. He looked smart, so Rosin cheated off of him for the math portion.
He told the dean that despite his placement tests scores, he was going to scale back on the math classes.
He would later see that redhead at Berkeley.
* When Rosin was in middle school, he had to make up a play based on a book he had to have read, before the civil war.
He never read a book, and made up a play about John Brown's attack.

* Throne auditioned for Josh Richland. He didn't get it.
When he was leaving the room, Jason Priestly sees him and says hi. He had known Throne from The Heights.
Jason and Shilton told Throne to come back and read for Howard, and he got the part.

* A few episodes in, Brian Austin Green told Throne that there was going to be a meth plot.

Brian Austin Green stops by.
* Green had known Throne, from when Green and Throne promoted their FOX shows together, Beverly Hills 90210, and The Heights.
* Throne and Green got along great. Green said it was a fun story line.
* Green is in a documentary called Kid 90.
Soleil Frye Moon recorded a bunch of stuff, including her interview with Green a few years ago.
Green did it, but never really thought it would be published, because a lot of these things never get released.
To his surprise, 3 years later, it was released.
* Brian Austin Green saw Jason Priestly and Ian Ziering recently. He complains that they are 10 years older than him, but he has the grayest hair.

* Shilton loved working with Tori Spelling. She was always prepared, knew her lines, and never missed a beat.

* They weren't going to have Andrea get pregnant from the first guy, so they introduced Dan.
* This was the first time Porretta had a recurring role on any show. So it was cool for him to keep working with the cast and crew every week.
* He hadn't done too much stuff before, and he was still young. He had just finished the movie "Robin Hood: Men In Tights".
* His whole experience with the show was great.
*He loved working with Gabrielle.
* He didn't really know what was going to happen. He said you get the script, and evolve.
Then one day, when he got the next script, he said "Oh wow, Dan's going south". (As in his behavior.)
* He likes plain croissants more than chocolate chip.

* Shilton says having background extras was important for the college scenes. It creates the impression that everyone has their own world and agenda.

The Little Fish:

* Shilton says he had no issues with Shannen, during any of the times he worked with her. Everything she did was well, and look at how great her perforance was.
* The shots from the ocean's point of view was logistically challenging. They had to create some pipes.
* Mollin says there was a lot of conversation about how the fish would look, when it was caught.
They ended up using only dead fish, and Shannen would move the tail with her baby finger, to make it look alive.

Why Brenda and Dylan didn't kiss:

* It's better for the heat between them if they don't kiss.
* Brenda wouldn't do that after what Kelly's been through.
* Dylan was going to go back to Kelly.
* They did not want to compromise their moral compass.

* Brenda and Stuart eloping was slotted for a huge ratings push.

On Andrea reviewing the Peach Pit for the Condor:

* Larry Mollin once had lobster bisque in hot weather, and got food poisioning.
That's why it was written for Andrea to order the lobster bisque at The Peach Pit.

On Andrea and Brandon both not working for the CU Condor:
* There needs to be less of a production for the set, if Andrea is pre-med. If she works for a paper, then they have to have a newspaper staff and newspaper room.
And for Brandon, they wanted him in campus politics.

* Larry Mollin's junkie friend said you can put crystal meth in orange juice, to get some nourishment.

* Throne recalls one of the episodes where he had to come through a door, and say one line.
He rehearsed walking and hitting his mark a lot this one day. He did it so many times, he eventually forgot what his line was.
He was embarrassed. He thought he was going to get fired.
As he was leaving, Porretta came in for his scene.
A crew member named Diane then said "Matthew, do you want me to tell you what your one line is"?

* Porretta recalls a time when they were about to film a classroom scene.
They had to fix the lighting, so he had a few minutes.
He was getting very nervous.
He went to the bathroom and started talking to himself.
When he gets out, the sound person comes up to him and asks if he's ok.
Porretta says yes.
The sound person says "we can hear everything you're saying in the bathroom."

2023.04.01 07:04 mrwilliamsonofjoliet One More Alternate Beatles Timeline...but with a Twist! (1967-1970) [LPs]

Picture the scene...
It's late 1966, and Paul McCartney has died in a car accident. In spite of this tragedy the remainder of the Beatles opt to carry on as a group, though they are uncertain on how they should continue. Some ideas are put forward, with manager Brian Epstein even suggesting replacing McCartney with a lookalike so as to prevent massive public grief, though these ideas are all quickly dismissed. Instead they all agree that only one man is capable of replacing McCartney, one that both he and John Lennon had admired and whose unique blend of pop-styles made him a perfect candidate. That man is...
...Harry Nilsson.

And so concludes this alternate universe in which Harry Nilsson replaces Paul McCartney as a member of the Beatles in 1967. And while the concept sounds a bit silly at first, I think it works surprisingly well and certainly better than if Nilsson had been replacing Lennon or Harrison. For one, most of Nilsson's Beatles covers were McCartney songs anyway ("She's Leaving Home", "Blackbird", "Mother Nature's Son") and are easily slotted into their respective places on these albums. Nilsson also had a penchant for writing and performing the type of "granny music" McCartney was notoriously known for ("When I'm Sixty-Four" and "Honey Pie", compared to "Nobody Cares About the Railroads Anymore" and "Marchin' Down Broadway"). They both also did their fair share of genre excursions, including ska ("Ob-La-Di Ob-La-Da" and "Puget Sound"), hard rock ("Helter Skelter" and "Jump Into the Fire"), country ("Rocky Raccoon" and "Joy"), piano ballads ("Let It Be" and "Remember (Christmas)") and nursery rhymes ("All Together Now" and "Ten Little Indians"). Granted, there are definitely parts of these fan albums that don't quite work, such as the lack of segues between certain tracks (the beginning of "With a Little Help from My Friends" and the majority of side two of Everest) or certain Beatles songs being multi-part medleys that feature short sections with McCartney on lead vocals ("A Day in the Life", "Cry Baby Cry"). While most of these issues can be improved upon with some editing, for now I'll stick to this subreddit's rules and just leave these fan albums as YouTube and Spotify playlists (though I might be able to provide a custom mix of these albums upon request). Hopefully I'm not the only one who enjoys these fan albums almost as much as the original records in certain places.
(Also yes, this is my second Nilsson fan album in a row, sue me)

2023.03.31 16:54 DuhChappers My Unofficial Bingo Reviews!

So let's get this out of the way at the top. For someone who read all these books, I sure did not do a good job reading the rules for Bingo, because I totally missed the rule about all the books coming from different authors. So this is only an unofficial bingo win, I’ll have to wait for next year to make it official. But I still had a great time hunting down new books and stepping out of my comfort zone on this project, and I’m committed to doing my unofficial Hero mode as well! I’m going to list the books I read in order of reading them, and I hope you enjoy.
Dune: Messiah, By Frank Herbert - Wibbly Wobbly Timey Wimey (HM)
This book was weird. I was warned, and I am aware that other Dune sequels get even more weird, but I still found this to be pushing my limits. Herbert has an imagination like few others. It was cool, and overall I had a positive experience with it, but it was work to try and understand it all. I will have to see how much further I get in the series while still having any fun at all. 6/10
A Memory Called Empire, by Arkady Martine - LGBTQA List Book
This book jumped to the front of my reading queue off of the title alone. Potentially my favorite book title of all time. The book itself is also very good, it’s got excellent worldbuilding and characters and an engaging plot. I love the names in the empire, and its culture in general. Only barely misses being what I would call a masterpiece because of pacing near the beginning and one interesting theme feeling underdeveloped. 9/10
A Desolation Called Peace, by Arkady Martine - Set In Space (HM)
This book was very similar in quality to the first one. It had slightly less of the cool worldbuilding from the first book, but it had just as much of the great characters. It was slightly less focused due to multiple POV’s, and one in particular dragged a bit for me. I do have to say, though, some of the best aliens I’ve ever read. 9/10
Bloody Rose, by Nicholas Eames - Family Matters (HM)
I read Kings of the Wyld just before bingo started and liked it a whole lot. I liked this too, but a little less. It was funny and pretty engaging throughout, with a couple really awesome moments. My biggest gripe with both books is with one aspect of the worldbuilding: The way the monsters. Despite some nods at the unfairness, no character seems to really care about changing anything and t gets under my skin. I do not think it works well or sends the message the book thinks it is sending. 7/10
The Traitor Baru Cormorant, by Seth Dickenson - Anti-Hero
Wow. This book blew my mind and blew right into my top 5 favorite books ever. I loved the world, I loved the prose, I loved every character, especially Baru and Tain Hu. The pacing and passage of time was handled basically flawlessly. I just loved it and looking back at it I love how it set up the rest of the series. 10/10
The Monster Baru Cormorant, by Seth Dickenson - Mental Health (HM)
Living up to a 10/10 as a sequel is tough, and I do think this book suffers a little from high expectations. But it still rocks! I love the new PoV character in this book, and I love the exploration of new cultures. The plot kinda slows in this one to make room for a lot of character work, which is good for the most part but does hurt the pacing. Also, very grim-dark. Tough to read at points, but mostly in a good way if that makes sense. 9/10
Small Gods, by Terry Pratchett - Shapeshifters (HM)
After the last book, I needed a couple lighter reads to get me in a better mood, and nothing is better for that than Discworld. This book was charming, interesting and funny throughout. It wasn’t my favorite Discworld book, but I’ve not read one yet that I didn’t enjoy. 8/10
The Golden Compass, by Phillip Pullman - Historical SFF
A friend gave me this as a random gift since I had never read it when I was younger. It was quite interesting, with a narrative structure and pacing that struck me as unconventional while still being engaging. I did think it took a little too long to the frozen north, and the journey was not always the most interesting. I do think I would have liked it more as a child but I’m still glad I had a chance to read it now. 7/10
Legends and Lattes, by Travis Baltree - Book Club
I still wanted to stay in the cozy zone for a little bit, and this book hit the spot right on. It had everything I wanted from it. Good characters, engaging growth and just the right amount of conflict. The concept alone is great and it lives up to that well. More than anything else, this book has great vibes and put a smile on my face consistently. 9/10
The Tyrant Baru Cormorant, by Seth Dickenson - Name in the Title (HM)
Finally returning to this series, and it still delivers. At this point in the series I knew what I wanted from the book and it delivered in a great way. It also managed to surprise me with a few twists that I thought were really interesting and left me super excited for the last book in the series. 9.5/10
Legion, by Brandon Sanderson - Urban Fantasy
This single volume collected three novellas Brandon wrote, and since I got them in one book I’m counting them as one book. I am a pretty big Sanderson fan so I was excited to check out something of his that I had never read before. I liked it a lot! I mostly liked the unique perspective of the main character with his different personalities and the slow build of the main mysteries throughout the different stories. I did not love the ending as much as I wanted but the journey was still well worth it. 8/10
Black Leopard, Red Wolf, by Marlon James - Set in Africa
This book was a pretty mixed bag in my opinion. I really liked the opening and the character dynamics that it set up. The setting was different for me and interesting as well, and I liked the way magic was used throughout. But, the pacing through the middle of the book almost killed me. I really struggled to get through some parts, and it also felt at multiple points like I had missed a page and was confused as to a new character or place that seemed to just appear. That said, once I got through the middle, the end was good once more so I left it on a positive note. 6/10
This Is How You Lose the Time War, Max Gladstone and Amal el-Mohtar - Two or more Authors
A friend loaned this to me with a glowing recommendation and I have to say - it deserved it. This is one of the most creative and powerful stories that I have read throughout this whole year. The way the story is framed - great. The character work through the glimpses we get into these people’s lives - brilliant. Worldbuilding and tech - consistently cool and interesting. Overall I’d pass it on to all of you with a glowing recommendation of my own. - 9.5/10
Promise of Blood, by Brian McCellan - Revolutions and Rebellions (HM)
This book did not really work for me. It did not lack merit - the magic was cool, and the world had a lot going for it. But the plot felt like it did not have a great sense of momentum, the prose was lacking, and the characters were inconsistent. Worst of all, I felt like a lot of the most interesting elements of the premise were not explored really at all. Overall, while I can see what made this book hit well for others, I can’t say that I would agree. 5/10
Red Seas under Red Skies, by Scott Lynch - No Ifs, Ands, or Buts (HM)
I read The Lies of Locke Lamora years ago and loved it, but bounced off the sequel at that time. Now I was more determined to get through it, and I was able to see a lot more to like. My biggest complaint would be that the book is too long, and Lynch has a tendency towards overdescription that hurts the pacing. Still, Locke and Jean are always entertaining, and their scheme is pretty great once it finally gets moving. I’m glad I got through it and I am still looking forward to the next in the series. 6.5/10
The City We Became, by N.K. Jemisin - BIPOC Author
I love the Broken Earth trilogy, and I was extremely interested to see what Jemisin would come up with in our world. The setup was interesting, the characters cool and strong in many different ways. I really liked the buildup and pacing throughout as well, though the resolution was over surprisingly fast. It’s easy to see this is just book 1. One big complaint: while I agree with almost all of the book’s politics, I thought the way it deployed them was quite jarring and tactless in some places. Not a masterpiece, but still very good. 7.5/10
Tress of the Emerald Sea, by Brandon Sanderson - Weird Ecology (HM)
I had this book pegged for this slot in Bingo since I read the preview chapter many months ago, and I definitely enjoyed my journey with it. I did have some issues; I think Hoid’s voice can get a little annoying over a whole book, and the resolution did not live up to the journey. All that said, for a light hearted romp in a unique world with cool characters, I think this certainly did its job. 7.5/10
Bands of Mourning, by Brandon Sanderson - Cool Weapon (HM)
This is my one reread I was allowed. I read it again to prepare for The Lost Metal, and I still love this book. I think this is the best of the second Mistborn series. I particularly love Steris in this one, she really grows to be probably my favorite character in the series. Side note: I was originally going to include this for the Cool Weapon category for Vindication, but then I realized the book was named after a cooler and much more magical weapon. 8.5/10
The Lost Metal, by Brandon Sanderson - Published in 2022
I think to appreciate this book, you have to be a big cosmere fan, and I’m not sure how well it works to just have all the cosmere stuff be so open after being in the background for as long as it was. But, I am a big cosmere fan, so it didn’t bother me much! This book is a fitting conclusion for the series and generally quite fun, even though it felt a little too action heavy and the pacing was not perfect. Also low in Steris which is a big flaw. 7.5/10
The Killing Moon, by N.K. Jemisin - Author uses Initials
It took me a little bit to be fully sucked into this world, but once I was in I felt a strong bond with the characters and their conflicts. I do think the story was a little predictable, but the execution was strong enough that it did not affect my enjoyment much. 8/10
Republic of Theives, by Scott Lynch - Award Finalist
This book is somewhat a return to form for the Gentlemen Bastards after I thought the last book was a little slow. It’s witty, it’s fun, and it felt so good to get answers to some of the mysteries established in the very first book. Honestly, I’m glad I waited so long to read this because now I might still remember it by the time the last book finally releases. 9/10
The Original, by Brandon Sanderson and Mary Robinette Kowal - Standalone (HM)
This was around the point I realized I had not very much time left for this challenge and wanted to focus on shorter stories to make sure I could finish. This one is an audiobook collaboration and I think its biggest flaw is length. It feels like this premise could have been fleshed out far more
The Sandman: Book of Dreams, by Various Authors - Short Stories
I found this randomly in a used bookstore about a month after watching the show and had to check it out. It had a bunch of stories in great variety, but the vast majority were interesting, creepy and unique. I didn’t quite get through all 20 stories in the collection but I hope to do so eventually, they are worth the time. 8/10
Priest, by Matthew Collvile - Self-published
Matt is one of my favorite youtubers, and I always wanted to check out his self published novels. They are set in what is more or less a D&D setting, and are meant to be callbacks to the hardboiled detective genre. This one was very interesting, despite some length it kept me turning pages. In the end I was a little dissatisfied with the resolution to the mystery, but I still thoroughly enjoyed the ride. 8/10
The Builders, by Daniel Polansky - Non-human Protagonist (HM)
I liked the pitch to this book - Redwall but everyone drinks and shoots guns. However, it left me underwhelmed by the end. I was not very engaged in the plot, and while some characters I really liked some gave me no emotion at all. Part of that was the short length of the book, it felt like it really could have benefitted from more fleshing out. 5/10
Overall I greatly enjoyed doing this! I’m glad this challenge exists and next year I’ll be back with a real completion of a card. I got 12/25 Hard Mode and I definitely think those are rookie numbers, I can pump those numbers up. A hearty thanks to everyone here who bothers to read this as well as those who put their time into organizing Bingo, it was a great companion for my reading this year.

Synopsis :
Acteurs :Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hanks, Christopher Walken, Martin Sheen, Nathalie Baye, Amy Adams, James Brolin, Brian Howe, Frank John Hughes, Steve Eastin
Mon avis :
